The 3's are amazing IC's. Haven't heard the speaker wire version but I bet they perform admirably.

I'd only get the 3.3's simply because they're newer :p but if I had to save money I'd get more of the 3's if I needed any.

so i now have the MIT AVt-3 and EXp-1 for speakers
for my ICs i have the AQ KC

it would be a BIG upgrade huh?

but 3k + worth it for all the stuff i wanted???

    I wouldn't upgrade yet.

I had lower end MIT speaker cables and lower end AQ IC's and they performed very well in several of my old rigs.

If you're really not satisfied yet with your rig (in terms of dedicated 2-channel) then I'd suggest playing around with it a bit before upgrading any other equipment. Wait til I swing by :D

Mole': I'm going to be bringing 3 sets of Shotgun S-3 ICs and one pair of Shotgun S-3 bi-wire speaker cables to the get together, so you'll be able to a hear a system (or two) run exclusively with S-3s.

I'm sure Joe is awesome to deal with (everybody around here speaks very highly of him) but if you're patient you can save even more money. I took my time and found 2 pair of S-3 ICs in like new condition for $200 a pop on A-gon...the third set I picked up for $220 (different seller). I also got a like-new set of Shotgun S-3 speaker cables for $580 shipped to my door (it was the same guy who sold me the two pair of ICs). Thus, we're talking about a grand total of $1200 for the four pair of cables. BTW, the guy I bought these from had purchased these from Joe but they showed no wear whatsoever. Just an FYI...

You'll love the Empire bro, especially a pair of them. I had one for around 6months and it held it's own to the PB13ultra I also had at the time. :)

    2 weeks to go!

UPDATED list of attendees and food items being brought (we had 1 add and 1 drop in the last week). I'll be finalizing a food list in the near future.

    dpowell - Baked Potatoes
    kawizx9r
    Mole' - Steaks and drinks
norm apter - Salad and Dessert
    Steelo
    Erik Tracy
    Civilian
edoggrc51 - chips, dip, soda and brewskis
    dacoupedeville
    phocion - snacks and brewskis

Can someone from way up north volunteer to bring disposable cups and plates?

I'll get address/directions and contact information out to everyone this week some time.

Sure, I can bring some. Weird as it may sound, you guys don't have any preferences right? I've had parties and certain people wanted 'foam' cups over the plastic ones/etc.

Hopefully the plates don't spoil on the way over there!:tongue::tongue: JK

I think as long as they haven't been used previously, they won't spoil on the way down.

I don't have much of a preference, just as long as the plates are sturdy enough to handle a steak and massive baked potato.

Yes, thank you doug.....just to show you some appreciation for your hospitality I'll bring some Ice Tea (I think that's what you said you like to drink) & dessert for you.

Since there are plenty of drinks being brought, I'll bring hot dogs, silverware & napkins.

One more thing. I don't want to leave music/DVD media to chance. If you have SACD's (i.e. PF DSOTM) or others or any other redbook CDs that are good for critical listening, please bring them along.

Having duplicates helps if we are comparing CDP's.
