RTA 11T (L) Mod (Done Pics)
My friend had me go through his 11T's and do the TL mod last year. They turned out awesome. Forgot to post pics for everyone last year, so here they are.
The original holes were not CNC'd and many had broken the baffle due to bad alignment, requiring some repairs.

Be prepared to remove some factory over-glue to get all the hurricane nuts in properly.

Unwinding the original 0.4mH inductor down to 0.3mH for the TL mod.

Crossovers (plan was to test different 12uF tweeter caps, however the owner likes these so they are staying put for now).

These turned out so awesome I went ahead and bought a pair of 11TL's for myself last week. Will post a thread on those sometime down the road.

Re: You know you’re getting old when…
I also took 2 years of typing in high school 71 and 72. Never used the skill again till the mid 90's when I brought my first Gateway puter home. To my amazement it all came right back after a 25 year hiatus and I could still do "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" without looking at the keys. Nowadays rarely a day goes by where I'm not using that very useful skill.

At my high school, many of the boys took typing. I am so glad I was one of them. A skill that I have used throughout my life and just now typing this statement.
I took typing class in high school for a joke. The class was right after lunch, freshly stoned.....turned out I accidentally learned how to type. We started on manual and eventually switched to electric....mid 70's....

Re: What did you do to your stereo rig today?
About a week late, but I’ve become a believer in SUTs.

Re: Noise.
I have come to realization….
To try and recreate a live listening illusion in my home ain’t gonna happen.
My take recently, personal perspective….
There are too many variables to realistically make a live music experience, recreate and playback that in one’s home.
One may be able to recreate a single venue, a single band/performance to approximate that experience but, who would want that?
To make that happen with every recording, every band’s signature sound, every venue inside a building and outside at a concert venue, each sound engineer’s perception of the best sound at said venue is next to impossible.
To create a live performance along with a recorded performance is……..!
What I have found is this, create the best sounding playback system that rocks your boat.
Enjoy what one has built and be happy in where it takes you.
I loved Harry Person’s idea of re-creating the experience one has when at a concert, indoor/outdoor, amplified/non-amplified, intimate/massive concert venue.
My personal experience over the years is this is not attainable for all recordings/artists/venues/genres along with all the rest.
What I’ve concentrated on in the last two decades is to create the best sounding system in my home where i can spend whatever timeline listening and, to come away with a smile, and experience, that I look forward to come back to experience it again.
I still enjoy tweaking, changing this and that, trying new equipment & recordings.
Comes down to having a good time, enjoying the fruits and labor of our passion which, is a very personal experience.
There’s no right or wrong way to go about your audio experience.
It’s a personal trip, ain’t it cool….

Re: Shigaclone PS rebuild
Yes, RTR
recordings, to test them after repair/calibration. Digitizing vinyl is quite a project. I've done some but have many waiting.
I bought back my Yamaha gear from Aaron to reassemble a basement system. I had the Mitsubishi LT-5V vertical TT and a pair of Mission bookshelf speakers to complete it. One of these days I'll connect my music server to it. FM is via an attic antenna.

Re: Any old timers in here
Thanks. That was what I was trying to figure out.....if Bob was involved with them. IIRC, he left PL in '79.
I too, am a Carver fan. Not of all of his offerings, but many. Especially his tube gear...that man knows tubes!
FWIW, I'm the guy who created Carverfest close to 2 decades ago. Bob and Peggy are planning this year to stop by my house and listen to my rig. Good times!
Those are admittedly some strange speakers. I hadn't seen them before. Glad to hear that you like them. Enjoy!
