Re: Death to The Music Room....
Don't forget on the back end they provide a warranty and have to service if something goes wrong right after they sell it.

Re: Death to The Music Room....
Thread title is a bit on the harsh side; no?? A quick analogy; using my local auto dealer whom I've bought 5 brand new vehicles from. I get good service there but I wouldn't say they bend over backwards giving me great deals on parts and service because I've spent over $160k there. If I didn't like how I'm being treated I'd just go somewhere else for my next new vehicle purchase with no fanfare.
FWIW I've never dealt with TMR but I would if they have something I want as their reviews are positive for the most part.

Re: Death to The Music Room....
Sorry about your situation there man, that kinda sucks from your point of view. With
I'm finding it difficult to really comment on your situation. I hear you on your stance, and for the most part agree with it. It would be nice to get a nice deal on a power cord when you took a slight bath on your trade in item and they made a nice profit off it.
My issue with this, we have zero idea what their actual profits are.
Unless you get a peak at their books, know their operating costs, know what they paid someone to go through the equipment (test it, clean it up, make any repairs...), you have no idea what their "profits" are.
They have rent/loan payments, utilities, IT costs, payroll, taxes, consumables, equipment, maintenance/repairs...
None of that is cheap, and at the end of the day when you work with them, you're buying their services.
For me, if one of my customers is nickel and diming me and in the end, I'm not making a realistic profit off of them, I'll happily tell them to go elsewhere. I don't work for free.

They're quite up front with how they operate, including their consignment operation which has a base of 35% including the testing and marketing services they offer, a rewards program, and a make an offer function on Ebay. Ebay approval rating, which is the only experience I have with them, is 99.9% positive.
Their business seems to have been booming the last few years. They also appear to ship to the international market which may increase the competition when new audio costs far more than in the US.

90% of the stores went under. Hifi stores are mostly just hanging on.
Like it or not, they're doing what they have to do to stay open.
It's a shame that it has come to that. Try finding a record store.
They are gone as well.

Re: You’re doing it wrong…
Which way? I’m in meetings in Albany all week (about an hour south of Portland).
East. In the Columbia River Gorge. If you've never been to the Gorge I highly recommend it. One of the most beautiful places on Earth. But this time of year it's kinda socked in with fog and rain.
