The last piece of my first Stereo Marantz

1976 Pacific Stereo next to the Sports Arena in San Diego consisted of a Marantz reciever a Technics Turntable and two Marantz tape decks and some big **** Cerwin Vegas for 14 years old I was pretty happy.
We decided to sell the house I grew up in even though im a year away from retiring and So Cal would be great to retire in and get out of the midwest, the rest of the family lives in the midwest so be it. I found my old Marantz SD 1000 a store down the street sells classic stereo stuff had some belts they were replaced tried it out works like it always did some 50 years later. This ones making the trip back home and will be added two the 2 channel once I return. A trip down memory lane.

Re: You’re doing it wrong…
Aha; Now I see the problem in Minnesota; no one told them. I just knew there was something in the water.

Re: Picked up a mint pair of SDA CRS +'s...I'd like to bring them back to their former glory, or better.
Mine are @xschop beauties.
The ones in the picture are from my 1C. I wanted to see how the sounded in the stereo slots of the CRS+.
There's a bit of a hubbub because the people using them in stereo models have, to the best of my knowledge, loved them, but! Only 2 of us, to the best of my knowledge, tried them on SDA models; I liked them in my 1C, but Polk legend DarqueKnight did not like them in his CRS+.
I'm up to mod any and all of these old Polks. I enjoy it. I've lucked out on my mods, so far, but am always prepared for failure.
As some have said elsewhere, these parts are getting hard(er) to find. If you mod your own, be sure you want to do it
If you're buying the mids already modded (to replace what's busted on yours, for a good price), go for it. I will say, I'm glad I have a set of modded and unmodded mids that fit both the 1C and the CRS+. I can compare how they sound. I'm still testing the arrangement to see what combo of plugged/unplugged I have in the 1C, but I do know at the very least) me-and-mine prefer the plugged mids on the stereo side.

Re: What did you do to your stereo rig today?
Tonight, I've been cleaning, and thoroughly enjoying, this Harman Kardon 430 from my dad's collection. Not everything he 'collected' was gold, but this HK 430 sure was.

different lighting

It has cleaned up very well, and I got lucky that the scratchiness in the volume pot was remedied with a quick spray of DeOxit. I removed the knobs and faceplate for proper cleaning/scrubbing; results were great. The sheet-metal chassis cover has an outer vinyl coating, which makes it very durable; a quick scrub-and-rinse of the cover got things sorted, although there are still a few tiny gouged scrapes in the vinyl coating. On the clear acrylic faceplate, before cleaning, I noticed the below numbers written in crayon/wax/pencil. I'm assuming $4.84 was the price my dad paid for this receiver at a thrift store
