And somewhere @Tony M, some dude has a project on hold, half completed for weeks, or years, maybe, perpetually about to go to the store for an 18mm socket, toiling, "I KNOW I have one, I just don't know where the #$%* it could have gone!" :DB)

PS We live in a house that we had designed and built. We have one of those switches.
My wife tells me that she and the builder decided to install it (in our mudroom) in case we ever wanted to add path lighting outside. So she tells me...

It's the 3/32" hex key that I can never find when I need it. For low torque applications, I've found a T10 torx bit works well enough :D Perhaps I should head to Horrible Freight for a cheap new set of keys in a holder so I don't have to sort through a drawer of random hex keys that are anywhere from 25-75 years old with various coatings of rust.

For stuff like Allen wrenches, I'll splurge for quality. I've found these to be very good, close tolerance, hardened, and don't deform with use. Handy holder to help keep track after use.

(That said, yes, I still have all my old Allen wrenches, too. You know, just in case. Or if I wanna keep my good ones good; another stupid notion :DB) )

yeah, me, too (FWIW). Nothin' worse than cheap hex keys. :/
I have my good ones squirreled away in my tool chest. So far, I've consistently remembered to put them back, too. :)

I did finally organize my sockets with those plastic trays from harbor freight,
as well as my wrenches. I have 18mm in deep, shallow and impact.
I even bought bigger sizes for those odd jobs. What's scary is my selection
Of oil filter tools. Small, large, pliers, adjustable and even that special weird
one Toyota uses. I just got rid of the Camry, so I guess it's just junk now.

I just looked. I have a timesert kit for fixing blown out spark plug threads in
Old 4.6l and 5.4l Ford motors. I bought it 20 years ago. It came with 10 inserts
and I have 8 left. Why am I holding on to it, other than it cost me $300.
It's sitting next to my tube tester. I guess ebay is the answer?

There's a lot more buds to bloom on these Crape myrtles.

The storms are dissipating as they get right up on us. The neighboring County has issued a water conservation order. That county has had a million people move there. A million new homes and all of them have sod and sprinklers. :o

We should be getting a reduced watering notice any day, too. With regular sprinkler use, I've saved most of my lawn this year. ;) y wife thinks the water bill will be high. :#:)

Sean is mortified that his mother was the one taking the photo, because she was majorly c-blocking him. Later that day, he would steal a motorcycle, black leather jacket, pack of smokes, and hit the road, heading west.

Nearly 60 Years After Vietnam, James Capers' Medal of Honor Confirms What Marines Already Knew

    eaap558xlm28.png

    jw0i6mwtjdna.png

On March 31, 1967, then-2nd Lt. James Capers led a nine-man Force Reconnaissance patrol deep into enemy-controlled territory near Phu Loc, South Vietnam.

The mission was straightforward: gather intelligence on enemy troop movements. Instead, the team found itself surrounded by a much larger North Vietnamese force.

For four days, the Marines fought while attempting to evade encirclement.

Capers was shot twice. He suffered multiple shrapnel wounds and a broken leg. Despite his injuries, he continued directing the defense, coordinating supporting fires and encouraging his Marines as they fought toward extraction.

When a rescue helicopter finally reached the team, the aircraft struggled under the weight of the wounded Marines. According to accounts of the battle, Capers twice tried to leave the helicopter so the others could survive the flight out. His fellow Marines refused to let him go.

Even then, the team would not leave behind King, the military working dog that had accompanied them throughout the mission. Years later, Capers said King shielded him from part of the blast of a claymore mine, likely saving his life.

The actions earned Capers the Medal of Honor nearly 60 years later. But Marines had been telling that story long before the citation changed.

He became one of the Marine Corps' pioneering reconnaissance officers during the Vietnam War and later became the first Black Marine to command a reconnaissance company. He continued serving after recovering from wounds that could easily have ended his military career, mentoring Marines and building the reconnaissance community that followed.
