And somewhere @Tony M, some dude has a project on hold, half completed for weeks, or years, maybe, perpetually about to go to the store for an 18mm socket, toiling, "I KNOW I have one, I just don't know where the #$%* it could have gone!"

Old Steven Wright joke:“In my house there's this light switch that doesn't do anything. Every so often I would flick it on and off just to check. Yesterday, I got a call from a woman in Madagascar. She said, 'Cut it out.'”
PS We live in a house that we had designed and built. We have one of those switches.
My wife tells me that she and the builder decided to install it (in our mudroom) in case we ever wanted to add path lighting outside. So she tells me...

It's the 3/32" hex key that I can never find when I need it. For low torque applications, I've found a T10 torx bit works well enough
Perhaps I should head to Horrible Freight for a cheap new set of keys in a holder so I don't have to sort through a drawer of random hex keys that are anywhere from 25-75 years old with various coatings of rust. -

For stuff like Allen wrenches, I'll splurge for quality. I've found these to be very good, close tolerance, hardened, and don't deform with use. Handy holder to help keep track after use. It's the 3/32" hex key that I can never find when I need it. For low torque applications, I've found a T10 torx bit works well enough

(That said, yes, I still have all my old Allen wrenches, too. You know, just in case. Or if I wanna keep my good ones good; another stupid notion

yeah, me, too (FWIW). Nothin' worse than cheap hex keys.
I have my good ones squirreled away in my tool chest. So far, I've consistently remembered to put them back, too.
