Tutankhamun's Tomb, with disassembled chariots, December 1922...
The contents of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun (KV62), was discovered by British archaeologist Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings on November 4, 1922. The cramped burial chambers contained more than 5,000 objects, many of which had been carefully dismantled or packed to fit within the tomb. Among the most impressive finds were six chariots, which had been taken apart and stacked in the antechamber before the tomb was sealed around 1323 BC.
The discovery of Tutankhamun's largely intact tomb was one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century. Unlike most royal Egyptian tombs, which had been extensively looted over the centuries, Tutankhamun's burial preserved an extraordinary snapshot of New Kingdom royal life, craftsmanship, and funerary practices.

A dramatic arrival—and one of the most striking finishes of the night.
Just after sunset, this GL52 slipped quietly into Mackinac Island through the fading light. Mockingbird is the first boat to finish in the Racing Division and currently leads the provisional Mackinac Trophy standings after a hard-fought race north.
(Thought of a friend who moved to Atlanta in the late 1970's who always went home to sail in this event)

The Port Huron to Mackinac Race, aka the Bayview-Mackinac. That the one I grew up watching every year. It is the biggest event of every year in good old Port Huron.

Did you have the sunroof open? You're supposed to have he sunroof open for deep spiritual awakening, divine luck, and enlightenment. It's in the owners manual, maintenance intervals section. Usually asterisked fine print, though.

PPS Nice fuel mileage (and, again, not being facetious). My Soobie claims low to mid 30s on its gauge, but it's about 10% optimistic.
Mrs. H's CR-V almost always reads right around 30 mpg (+/- 1 or 2 mpg depending on terrain and driving conditions) -- but it's impressively accurate.

Every damned day. It seems everytime threre is over a 30% chance of rain, the severe thnderstorms, hail, strong wind warnings are given. I have had 8 or 9 of those warnings lately and last night was the first time we even got rain. A sprinkle for 5 minutes. Whoopdie-doo!
One thing is wrong with Larry's maps though. When we were kids, the maps didnt turn red until it hit the upper 90's. Now, it seems all of the weather maps turn red as soon as it hits anything over 75 or so. The "extreme heat" now turns to shades of orange and purple, when the temps are the same as they were when I was kid. In the 90's. Yellow map or a bubble of a hot area (maybe), and nothing about the hysteria of "extreme heat".
It was just another summer day back then. Same as it is now, with the same chances of the weather reporters being right about the weather.

We were put on City "watering our lawns restrictions" the other day, maybe a week ago. BUT... if you didn't go to their website, how the heck would someone know? TV? I'm sure the local news had it on them but if you don't watch them...how would one know?
My wife freaked out when I went to water some really bare spots on a day I wasn't supposed to. I can water on EVEN days. She's a law-abiding citizen to her core!!!!
Since the restrictions were put in place, we've had some of those 50% chance of rain forecasts that didn't drop a drop of rain HERE either. The storms seemed to split again, bypassing us. I was challenged with do I water today or wait for a couple of 95* days till I'm legally allowed to water again? It is what it is...
But the past couple of days were GREAT. 1 1/2" in a couple of days. The blooming trees and lawn look GREAT now.

@mhardy6647 Thanks! My 2017 Kia Optima Hybrid EX is capable of better MPG. Best to date was 44mpg. The faster you drive, like 70 or 80mph, the hybrid power doesn’t sustain for very long due to small battery. Sweet spot was around 60mph which was great for going to work and back on local expressways.
The drawback with the Hybrid, the battery resides where the space saver spare would go. They provided a 12V air pump and can of flat tire fix. That work's great for minor punctures, but if you run over a chunk of steel at night that laughs at tire fix in a can you are screwed. That happened to me once, so I purchased a space saver spare and jack/tool kit.
EX trim comes with leather heated seats (driver side power, multi adjustable), heated steering wheel, Harmon Kardon surround sound, and navigation. The next up and costly Technology option provided the powered sunroof that would have seen me blessed at 77777 and other proximity warnings that some folks think is put there to allow phone use while driving. The EX also was equipped with a push button start with immobilizer so it's harder to steal with just a USB A cable end.
At time of purchase, they had a great deal for synthetic oil changes on the car when I bought it so always went to them for O&F until it expired and I retired. I got to know the techs and service manager at the dealership. I still change oil before recommended service intervals, check it when filling with gas and have not experienced any engine problems.
