Has anyone heard why it will go from a CAT 4, down to a CAT 3 right before landfall?

It's no longer able to draw as much heat and moisture from the water. The outer bands are drawing in cooler and dryer air from over land. -
Thank you. It being a relatively slow mover may be a good thing. As it leaves the West Coast of Florida, I see that they are still forecasting it to be a CAT 1 hurricane. With a large swath as well.

Beautiful day in Georgia. Most of the leaves have fallen except for a some still hanging into a few white oaks. Now I can see the real headache that will keep me busy this winter. Sweet Gum spiky balls! Cursed things! My last house only had one of these trees. My current house has five and counting. Last year, there was hardly any to clean up. This year will be a bumper crop of these pain in the arse things.

Oh the good times we had when I was young with those sticky ball wars and winter sweaters with your friends

I've never been much of a bare feet in the yard type, but I hate how they roll under your shoes and twist your ankle, especially on slopes. -

Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Winter Storm Blair Update: Mid-Atlantic
It snowed here. One of the worst on record.
Bit of ice, too.
Looks like I'm trapped indoors 'til spring.
Probably be making soup from a leather belt by the weekend...

Typical PNW weather.

I do miss those eerie foggy mornings and the snowy winters. Just don't miss the 9 months of rain

High wind warnings in Southern California, gusts up to 80mph.
Oh and a couple of fires have sprung up and are being fed by the high winds.

Same here. Depending on the location we can have up to 6” of the white stuff, plus 1/4" of ice. I'm stocked up on bread, milk and eggs. 🤣
Really though, I have enough beer and whiskey to get me through the weekend.
Just need to refill my 5-gal kerosene can tonight to make sure I have emergency heat if the ice takes the power lines out.
-
I ain't skeeirt of nothin' but that daggum ice. One report I heard this morning was 3/4" of ice. Been there, done that. Don't ever want to do it again.
We are out of power for 2.5 weeks. There's nothing like taking a shower in a 42 degree bathroom!
At least this time around, we have a gas fireplace, 2 kerosene heaters and another gas heater out in the sunroom. Prepping for the worst, hoping for the best.

Yeah, 3/4" of ice is a heck of a lot to weigh on tree limbs and power lines. I've seen widespread damage from far less. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
My hot water heater is electric, so showers wouldn't be happening. I'd be using a pot of water heated on a camp stove to wash up.
