Designated US 129, the road is bordered by the Great Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest with no intersecting roads or driveways to hamper your travel. Drove it in 2007 in my MINI Cooper S. Picture of the poster I got there. There's a national event each year called "MINI's on the Dragon." It's a national event, when I went there was 350 or so MINI's there. A lot of sports car clubs go there each year.
A guy on a motorcycle ran off the side riding with his dad and died while we were there.
Ran that route in a Lotus Esprit (at speed)
I did the same. My MINI S had a different pulley on the supercharger to give more boast, Bora exhaust, adjustable camber plates, stiffer rear sway bar, lower and stiffer springs for suspension, lighter wheels sticker tires and a dyno tune.
BTW saw a few Lotus Esprit's when I did track days, fun cars.
