My son (the mathematician, albeit a wry one) sent me this today:

    1jr0960b9dja.png

I told him that this is what organic chemists would call a fused ring system. Many of those... cause cancer. :#

The other thing I found interesting about the photo -- the roundabout(s) is/are full of cars, but the approach roads are empty. :p
I pointed this out to my son, and told him that this effect is what chemical kineticists would call a gate.
    His response:
    It's a traffic capacitor

    That's my boy! B)

At least there's not two of them to wreak havoc on the inflammatory system by forming this carcinogen.

Looks like the Runaways with a very young Joan Jett.
(not that I made a habit of following bands of teenage grrlz in those days)

Found this photo with an ad banner underneath. Thought it was relative to the incident which doesn't look very conventional to me.

By the looks of the dudes pants, it appears he had actually sprung an oil leak

I've been meaning & meaning to snap a photo of this monstrosity without other weird ancillary equipment in the vicinity. Finally did so this afternoon -- although I should've cleaned the faceplate first :p

    52683474218_e88bd06dca_b.jpg

Found this rascal a few years back at the Grantham, NH dump in fully working condition -- needed to have the controls cleaned, of course. I use it with the R200s for music (2-channel), and I also have been using the preamp section more than occasionally as an active preamp with the "Simple 2A3" amplifier and the Frankenaltecs. :)
