Yeah, it's kinda like car mods. You'll never actually "add value" to the vehicle by doing them, but it makes it personalized and improves the performance usually. Makes it something uniquely yours and it's fun.

This fall my daughter and her friend went around our neighborhood daughter was 9 at the time asking people if they could take their front yard. Charged 5$ a yard each kid. She ended with $85. Very impressed with the initiative. -

It's just some random internet kitchen -- not a very lucky one.
I just liked the 'kitchen island' gag, which was from my son.
I suggested to him that perhaps the result might be a kitchen archipelago -- and we both agreed that kitchen archipelagos are gonna be the next big thing.
