I know those JBL low frequency drivers sound nice. I've been using mine as subwoofers, the original owner had a stereo salon build him custom sub enclosures to JBL specs, back in the late 80's or early 90's I guess, They were pretty dang seamless when I was using them as a pair of subs. I even had Gary Dodd modify my Dodd preamp with an active subwoofer crossover in it, the only one he ever did he told me. Pretty much real estate hogged up when using them that way as they are huge enclosures, however, as opposed to incorporating them into something like Wardsweb has done.

Tom, I have the battery powered adjustable gain preamp, which Gary modded right before he got really sick and died. Sonicap Platinum bypass caps and some other stuff which escapes me at the moment in addition to the active subwoofer crossover. I also have a Dodd battery powered tube phono preamp which is fantastic. And of course my ELP in storage which I will probably never part with, since it was my first. -
Rearranged the whole rack, providing better wire management. Plugged in a Noise Harvester, which is really just making me wonder what my neighbors are doing to dirty up my power. Lastly, I placed new speaker cables and ICs, delivered to work, in the trunk of my car. Why is my wife still awake???..

Using the DIY Nelson Pass B1 w/Korg Nutube 6P1 preamp and my DIY version of a ST70 EL34 amplifier pushing the JBL C50 Olympus speakers with custom CNC machined bubinga wood horns. The 2A3 and power supply are waiting for their turn in the system.

THANKS! Ha, right now that is not possible. In tomorrow's episode of what I did to the rig I will be soldering one of the RCA cables back to the plug. I'll take the blame for the cause but will say I was not impressed with what I saw when I unscrewed the plug.

I decided to make a bunch of Mercury vapor this evening with mine.

FYI and FWIW; that's not mercury vapor -- it's stuff in the glass fluorescing. I take it as a sign of a good "hard" vacuum in a vacuum tube (again, FWIW). There's no mercury in those tubes.
That said -- there can be "mercury vapor" in hifi. There is a place for it in hifi, too -- 'specially as long as it stays inside the tubes that contain it.
Can I find a good photo of Gary Kaufman's SE 211 amp with its 866jr mercury vapor rectifiers all aglow? Nooooooo... -- so this one'll have to do
The 866jr tubes in the P/S (module on the left) are on and glowin' -- but the lighting in the photo makes them look kinda dull

Mercury plasma has its most intense emission at 254 nm (in the UV and not visible, although dangerous to vision if not attenuated), but there's some fairly intense lines in the blue/green wavelengths that made it popular for street lamps for quite a while. To this day, CFLs and old-time fluorescent tubes use the 254 nm emission from mercury plasma to 'excite' phosphors coated on the inside of the tube to emit visible light.
Sorry to go all Cliff Clavin on you -- especially on Christmas!
EDIT: oops, so much for my belief about the 254 nm emission vs the visible emission of mercury.

I continued my efforts in digital signal noise reduction by ordering an Uptone Audio EtherREGEN audio grade Ethernet switch. This will replace the Cisco SG110D-08 Ethernet switch that my Bryston BDP-3 digital player and Synology DS718+ NAS are connected to. The EtherREGEN is made in small quantities and is currently sold out, therefore, I won't get mine until February.

Last June, I discovered that the signal integrity of audio and video signals carried via Ethernet could be improved by using low noise linear power power supplies.
