Master Bath Remodel

It’s been a long time coming but we are finally about to do this. The house we own is older but in a fantastic neighborhood with a huge yard and therefore we knew that we would have to put money in it. We did the kitchen last year and the dining room the year before that.

Now onto the master bath. Here is what we are dealing with :
9s660xbibj6h.jpg
ljgf7an2rzia.jpg

We have all hardware and fixtures ready to go. Light grey cabinets with furniture details, quartz ctops, tile floor, tile shower with frameless glass, air bubble spa tub, sconce & can light fixtures, polished chrome bath fixtures etc etc installing in the next couple weeks

I will post updates for any of you interested in the process, for now here are a couple details for planning purposes.

You tub and shower area is similar to what ours was before we did our bath remodel in 2015.

    Good luck Joe.

    Thanks @Milito that’s a good looking bath!

The wife is excited about the tub as this new one will have air massage ILO water jets. It’s all Greek to me! Lol

Drew it’s not bad and I’m not ungrateful for what we have it’s just the master bath we had in the old house was just updated right before we moved and we miss some of those features. Will be nice to have that back.

Dave I am quite sure if I brought that to the table it would bring out some claws

one thought* that I'll just mention (in case you haven't considered it and/or don't have it already).

Now, I'm not sure you live in a cold place (we do! 7 degrees F as I type this), but if you do... well... radiant heat under a tile floor in the bathroom is really nice. Really nice.

    _____________
    * I think it's the one thing we did right vis-a-vis the bathrooms in this house when we had it built. :)

I have no clue, sorry :p since ours was new construction.

But I will tell you that walking onto a warm bathroom floor on a cold morning (or in the middle of a cold night) is one of life's simple pleasures. :)

Too funny, we're doing the same thing--except the shower. That'll get done later down the road. We had all that chrome crap, so light fixtures, towel bars, ect have all been replaced. The large wall mirror is coming down Thursday, and we have new individual mirrors to replace the "mega" mirror. Did the new faucets and associated plumbing 2 weeks ago.

Wish I could Tony, but the great hard drive crash of 2015 killed my photo library.

Here's some pics of the faucets and light fixtures replaced so far, Bev's hand made curtain, and the monster mirror that's going bye-bye. New medicine cabinets to come next week:

Eventually, vanity top will be replaced with ganite, shower/tub will get tiled, and a new thick glass enclosure for the shower. The new mirrors are really cool, I'll post some pics next weekend once I have them up.

  • I am currently redoing my master bath. Have a very similar long vanity. I'm not replacing the vanity itself, but instead putting in new quartz tops on the two vanities, and a new center vanity with a live edge natural wood top for the center. Just finished removing the builder grade mirror today, rewiring for the new vanity lights, and a couple new outlets inside new wall cabinets. Patching the wall and working with drywall is not my fav part of the job.
  • @Milito how hard is it to keep that shower glass clean? I love the look of those, just afraid that it will show soap stains all the time.
  • MilitoMilito Posts: 1,085
You have to wipe it down or it will spot. They had the option of an anti spot coating with the people who did the shower, but we didn't get it. I didn't want to spend the extra money because I was afraid it wouldn't work.

After having my house remodeled, I usually take a shower in the back yard. However, this winter has been on the cold side, so I have been using the shower. I wipe it down after each use to keep soap scum off the walls and floor. Please warm up soon as I am getting tired of the shower. :)

Squeegee. We've been doing it for five years now. It's not bad once you get used to it as part of the routine. Only takes a minute (literally).
  • steveinazsteveinaz Posts: 19,492
Get a shower squeegee. Kaboom works real well on Arizona hard water stains.

Compared to cleaning soap scum from glass, it’s a fraction of the effort.

Mid demo. Had to replace the sill plate and the support below all the way down to the block wall. Had to sister up three floor joists. Major rot from 30 years of a bad installation. Surprised the shower didn’t fall into the crawl space.
    All repaired and strengthened.

Terrible wall paper from the original build behind the mirror.
