Yep! They had a hard life. Figured when I find that nice pair I now have some backup drivers/cross-overs. $12 wouldn't buy me one of the drivers let alone all of them (minus one blown Tweeter)......

It would be easier to find a good condition pair for a couple a hundred bucks, than have to basically build some cabinets from scratch. Even Dr Frankenstein would run away from those.

And that is why I dared him to do it... I actually see much potential in them to do something totally outside the box. Think granite tops and bottoms with Piano gloss baffle and side panels in a finish to contrast the stone.

Wow! Just had a Six Million Dollar Man flashback....... "We can rebuild him"

Double dog Dare eh? Well I do have a co-worker who's hobbie is cabinetry. Already been envisioning ebonying a nice oak cabinet for these.....................maybe. :o

Just concerned about the drivers.... The more I looked them over on the outside they almost look like they were at one point stored maybe with their fronts facing down and got water damage that way. Not sure how to tell if the cones, spiders or voice coils have been compromised by any water. They look alright from the front. When I have time I will remove them and inspect more thoroughly......

Looks like SL2000’s, if that’s accurate then yes. RD-0194 would be what you need,

^^ Not sure on the prices of used Adcom mono-blocks, but can't help but think this might be a good price if everything is in working order. Already heavily invested in a Bryston and Parasound Halo (and 2.3TLs and SDA1C's) to consider this system. Plus too far away - in the land of clouds & rain (Pacific Northwet).
    2.3TL's - Living Room
    CRS+'s (4.1 TL's) - Office
    SDA1C's - Famdamly Rm
    SDA1C's - Master Bedroom

Seller states he would sell the speakers separately for $1600. I would imagine with CASH in hand, you could do better than that, as they have been listed for some time now.

I'm actually wondering if he has the cable, since he was using monoblocks?

Good question, but I'm not so sure the seller didn't pick these up recently, and is just trying to flip the whole set-up. He didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about the SDA's.

But, I could be wrong. He replied rather quickly to my question, wouldn't hurt to ask.
  • Some very nice SDA SRS 2.3 (appear to be TLs) in SoCal. $1050, but I am sure very negotiable since the sellers appears to be heavily invested in stereo gear.

I actually went and auditioned these when they first showed up. Original Oak veneer. Excellent condition. Some very minor marks on the tops, but no dents or dings, and perfect fabric all around - 9.5/10. The bottom planks were in excellent condition as well. Passed the push test with 3+ secs, and all of the butyl rubber surrounds were perfect. Comes with interconnect cable. Knowledgeable seller. Was willing to sell the speakers separately for $1800. I told him I could only offer half that, and wished him good luck with the sale. We parted on good terms. He also turned me on to some Vienna Acoustics.

These appear have a pair of RD0's replacements already. I would assume they are the correct RD0-198's.

Fairly certain the top & bottom tweeters on each speaker are the SL3000 correct to the 2.3TL speakers. The middle ones may also be originals, or may be RD0's; it's hard to tell due to color variations within the SL3000 production run.

they are RDO's why they were placed in the middle position is strange. Top tweeter plays the loudest, I would of put them up top.
  • See these 2 SDA SRS2.3 in 2 different adds. What is the difference between them? 1 has 'weird' mid-woofers at top & bottom, while the other is normal looking. mxitmx9otwt0.jpg

If you look closely at the middle tweeter, the bezel is flatter and the soft substance surrounding the dome is not there as it is on the other two. Plus the circle of lettering is smaller. All 3 of these are characteristics of the 198s.
  • Top are 2.3 and bottom are 2.3tl.
