You Know when people are selling some of these SDA's at ridiculously low prices (considering how much they were new and the fact you can't buy the same quality today without spending some real cash).

You can't Not! buy them....... :)

It was a 46" TV, back when TVs still had a 2-3" border all the way around. I had to upgrade to a 65" so the TV doesn't look so small in comparison. haha

I've always wanted to hear a set of 3.1s, since the bass woofer is actually a driver instead of a passive.

Regarding SDA 2's, if they come around and the price is right...

Are those active drivers??? I thought it was just a different passive design like Advent used.

About a month ago a pair of 3.1tl's and a pair of 1.2tl's came to market in my area (which never happens by the way!!!)
Unfortunately I could not rope buying both so I had to make a painful decision. 3.1's or 1.2's?? (I had neither at that point). Well I decided on the 1.2's..... Hope I made the right decision?

I would like to eventually add a set of 3.1's, CRS's and a pair of SDA 2's to my collection. Then I would be happy for at least a couple of weeks..... LOL!

Yes, pitdogg2, the 3.1s were the only SDA model (to my knowledge) that had a real bass driver (non-passive).

hahaha Kmeek, you sound like me. Except I would have bought them both. LOL

But to get back on topic....

The 3.1 uses a passive radiator. It is just a different look.

This is correct. Look at the M12... Same design passive.

That would be incorrect... the 3.1TL is passive as well. Their sales literature on them from the time, as well as Ray’s SDA Compendium state as much.

    I had a pair of 3.1TL's.
They were very neglected but sounded pretty good.
My room was too small for them so sold.

Thank you for the heads up on this one! I just bought them. Holy cow! They sound amazing. I'm especially surprised at the bass they pump out. I'll still replace the tweeters and upgrade the crossover, but I can't imagine them sounding better.

You're welcome, enjoy! Those are amazing speakers for their size and can be found for next to nothing.

I've been thinking about these, ( https://cosprings.craigslist.org/ele/d/51-surround-system/6605005157.html ), but I really don't need them. I have a set of 1Cs as my computer speakers and they're great!

Honestly I'm surprised they're still available...

I like to buy 2.3 is better, when I had them in a big enough for room. They are probably, to date, still my favorite speakers. The three-point ones are certainly a lot more forgiving of room size.

I just noticed or realized the 3.1's have the closer MW spacing of the 2B's and 1C's. I have to agree the closer MW spacing does better in a smaller, narrower space. I really need to get my 2.3's into a wider room to experience them better.

In "my" room, the modded 3.1TL's beat out all the other SDA competition, including modded 1C's, modded SRS 2's and modded 2.3TL's.

The single tweeter in the 3.1's has pin-point imaging compared to the multiple tweeter design (at least to my ears). Plus, the 3.1's are very easy to drive, I'm powering them with a pair of 25 wpc tube mono blocks.
