The last part is being a pain...
  • Maybe avoid tightening with a 3' pipe wrench elongated with a 10' cheater bar...

Yes tighten 1/4 turn before breaking! (From an old Harley Davidson repair manual) :)

  • So I'm having a difficult time finding the rubber piece for the inside of the clamp, I know it doesn't have to be exactly the same for what it does but I would at least like something close..

Anyone have any ideas I'm all ears.. :)

  • Where does it sit and what exactly is it's function? I have a resource or 2 that might get you where you want to be.
  • Pretty sure the clamp used Sorbothane, may be hard to find in that form??

  • It really works as a spring, as you loosen the clamp it helps open the collet..

  • Discussed on this document.

  • Ok so you need a high durometer low surface friction piece... How much compression are you typically seeing?
  • There are other materials that dampen also, silicones do well. Not sure how it compares though??

I would say about 0.060 to 0.090 its really hard to tell with the piece inside the clamp..

The piece is 1.000 in length..

  • This content has been removed.
  • Ok in that case, I'd recommend a large (thick) undersized O ring supported by a nylon collar. The ring will act like a spring with low friction. A square O ring will be more aggressive but harder to source.
  • Accurate Gasket hooked me up..
  • Well then that's a win... And I still want to know where to send the monies.
