A new email promo from Polk suggests going to Crutchfield, CNET and Audioholics for tips, no mention of Club Polk. A very sad state of affairs, especially suggesting Audioholics. The home of the naysayers is the last place I would recommend to anyone.

    Brilliant marketing. NOT.

This is what most people would consider an epic FAIL.

sad to see no faith in your own boards.....not a great way to build a brand or attract new customers...these boards are a WEALTH of knowledge and it would be sad to see it go.............

I can understand why they did it. We are more of a "What speakers, gear should I get?" Rather than a "How do I set up my gear kind of a board."

Instead of answering that question, we would be telling them they need to upgrade their receiver so that it has outputs so that they can get an amp, then they need..... :D

So instead of getting set up info, they are being told to spend a few hundred more on other gear! ROTFLOL!

There is something to be said about actually getting answers to the question you asked rather than expensive answers to questions you hadn't even thought of.

I am curious to know THE person/people who is/are responsible for this omission. Ever since the change to vanilla, it seems like the forum is a PITA to those in charge.

Regardless, there is ZERO excuse for not including this Forum. As a business and if I were in charge? The person who made this decision would either be gone or demoted.

This is business common sense 101.

If I was a Polk exec, I don't know if I'd push potential customers to this forum to promote sales. Heck, most of the advice is to buy used. That, and they have little control over however us goofballs decide to respond. Yes, there's a wealth of information for owners here, but they chose 2 sites with "professional" reviewers, and probably the classiest online seller of all.

    I'm disappointed in Polk too.

I'd much rather be verbally-assaulted and told that my system is junk by F1 on this forum than have it all candy-coated by some stranger on any of those other inferior places.

    lol

Step 4 don't leave your guitar against the speaker like we did. Sure it looks cool and you'll look hip but it will vibrate when playing your favourite movies. But it looks cool.

Back to the op, I agree.

Audioholics ?? WTF are they thinking ? Betcha they are going to have fun over there seeing Polk recommending them and not their own forum.

This is very telling on many fronts.

Polk has no will to support their own forum.
Polk is more interested in portable audio than good audio
Polk would rather cater to the snot nosed kids/millennials living in their parents basement.

When in reality, this forum has been the front runner in support of Polk products over the decades. We do however hold their feet to the fire when they come out with crappy products, which they probably don't like. We have also been the top seller of Polks excellent customer service, something that is rare in todays world.

Talk about putting a knife in your back....really Polk ? This is more so a lesson in how to lose your support base 101, which apparently someone down there at HQ passed that class with flying colors.

Really sad, no support for the Polk family. So many brands build a bond with their consumers and create ambassadors to lead, support and spread the word. I am new here and get that feeling from this forum. Keeping people in the franchise is a smart way to build new business.

As an example, Maker’s Mark Bourbon has more than 100,000 ambassadors as part of the MM family and they are empowered. About 4 years ago MM tried to lower the proof from 90 to 84 to stretch the juice since they could not keep up with demand. Claimed the flavor profile was the same. Within hours of the first bottle hitting the trade all h**l broke lose from that very support team and the company immediately publicly apologized for their mistake and went back to the original proof.

Brilliant marketing and fairly simple. Do not bite the hand that feeds.....Polk. Not very forward thinking IMO.

Although I never visit Audioholics, my guess is that Polk advertises on their site, and others.

Polk gets a kickback from these sites for mentioning them in a email/advertisement.

There is no monetary gain in mentioning this Forum.

There is no snub towards anyone or group in this very brief overview about how to get a home theater up and going.

It would be helpful if Polk's website had a guide and recommendations for different home theater speaker packages. Many people call Crutchfield and get advice on what AV receiver to match with their speakers.

I've read many reviews by Crutchfield customers thanking them for their advice and recommendations. Crutchfield has a loyal customer base because of their customer service and recommendations. This differs from Amazon.com. I can call Crutchfield for advice, but not Amazon. Crutchfield also has competitive prices.

Must admit I have been a Crutchfield fan since the days of their selling computers. Previously I have referred to Chrutchfield's web for info and comparisons of different equipment. It has its uses and they do stand behind what they sell.

I have found this forum to be invaluable when it comes to... well... just about everything Hi Fi. Thanks guys.

Ken Swag-monster is the only purveyor of Polk who attends this forum...
Last i knew, Polk was a rather large company. You'd think they'd have more presence on a forum that they pay for.

I bet Forum.polkaudio.com is blocked by their system administrator... :D
