I believe Ray explained that in here somewhere. Magnetic fields or some such.

    Fixed it for you @F1nut....

    For your Dreadnought project:
Just an FYI: since several forum members recommended Canare 4S11 speaker cable I picked up some from Performance Audio.
While it is not on sale (@ $1.16 per foot which doesn't seem like a bad price) they do have a free shipping February event going on right now (with no minimum order which is nice)

    Worth the wait...
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

A-L estimates they "should start shipping approx the end of the 3rd week of April... (although) not possible to pinpoint precisely at this point. Emails with tracking numbers will be sent when each one is processed for shipment. The Post Office then picks up the following day."

This would make it a little later than 12 weeks out, likely due to order more than tripling from the original quote.

Is there still time to get in on this project?
You can put me down for a transformer.

Sorry @gadgetman1966 these were a special order from Avel Lindberg that required a minimum order. A special group buy was put together (thanks @vcwatkins et al.) and placed back in January. We are now all waiting the 12 weeks for them to manufacture and ship them.

You might check with Avel Lindberg towards the end of the month to see if maybe they made any extra in the manufacture run. If not you can always buy the 800VA transformer (Part# Y236906) which they stock.

Gadgetman, if you do some searching of old threads you'll find the "in stock" 800vA to be almost as nice as the 1000vA model. I bet some here would find it hard to tell the difference.

If you are looking to build a Dreadnought, the A/L 800vA Y236906 is excellent for this application.

I have an extra set of these faceplates (and female neutrik connections) I'd like to give away. I made two sets and I'll never use the black ones. They'll just end up sitting in my closet forever. They allow the dreadnaught to sit flat so only the blank face is showing. It's been mentioned that these sound better when they're in the vertical. But if you want to join me "above the influence" and go horizontal let me know. Just reimburse me for shipping. B)

You can still go vertical with that arrangement.
