Any speaker with a rear port is going to be hard to place close to a wall. Down firing ports on bigger speakers like the Sig series can get closer to a wall, but not against it as that bottom port still throws out in all directions.

If you need something super close or against a wall, a front port in a speaker is probably your best bet.

Okay these speakers are nicer than what I ever thought they would be.

We watched Passengers last night. OMG they sounded sweet. When the end credits came up I turned it off and the wife asked me to turn it back on. WOW that is a first, she like how well it sounded. I still have not re-run Audyssey, these are still going on my RTi8 settings.

The S30 is a darn good center speaker too.

What in ceiling speaker would go best with these? This is a little OCD thing to match them all.

You nice guys think I should build a stand to match? The cherry looks good but for around $150 I can try to color match.

Don't change the color of the stand, but take those red Polk display tags off the speakers.

Yes, display tags are now off. I wanted to get them hooked up and playing.

To change the stand color I would have to build a new one. Color is already set. I stain with an oil base and did 5 coats of Deft on top. No way could I refinish it. I already found a color close to it, old masters Spanish Oak http://myoldmasters.com/color/spanish-oak/ Finding a Black Walnut stain is not that easy.

I am itching to build something other than quilt ladders and blanket chest (I make some extra cash off these) so maybe in a few weeks.

If you want to get into color matching dyes and spray equipment is the only way to go. It often involves toners and glazes as well. Matching anything with a can of stain is damn near impossible unless what you are trying to match came from the same can of stain.

What you have now is a nice contrast between all the dark audio/video gear and your stand. They compliment each other. Making it all look the same would be a mistake, IMO.

Does removing the red tags void the warranty?

Only in California. You'll be prosocuted if you do.

I totally agree on trying to match a stain to something that was factory made is next to impossible. I've come close a few times but never a perfect match

Yes I will keep the stand as is for now and not go with the Spanish Oak color. If I do a new one maybe a dark rosewood.

I am liking these S60's and the S30. Glad I made the upgrade from my RTi8. Listened to Uli Roth this morning and just finished Moana... This is one nice speaker.

tomorrow I will put the S20 in the bedroom replacing the RTi4.

You mean a stain in a can? Agreed.

Part of the Polk marketing stuff,,, I didn't pull them off till I put the grill on. OOPS I mean my mother in-law did pull them off till the grill was put on.

Hey good laugh  always enjoy one :)

Good thing about these speakers is they are much nicer to play over them when they are yapping.. RTi can only go so loud before they started to hurt, Signatures are much nicer.
