I believe those disconnects are too small if you are going with the chassis connectors jay linked in his post (NL4MP-UC). They are .250" 1/4" tab.

I was trying to link to Parts Express since they have everything in one vendor regarding the Neutrik stuff. The idea is to minimize shipping costs from multiple vendors.

    Too small Brock.

The Gold fasten ons I linked to will fit these. Unless I'm reading it wrong?

    http://www.performanceaudio.com/item/neutrik-nl4mp-4-pole-speakon-panel-mount-connector/2798/

4 pole chassis connector, black D-size flange, countersunk thru holes, 3/16" flat tabs

Regardless they make other sizes depending on what you go with.

That's not the NLT4FX-BAG, which takes .250 fastons.

How does this look for a parts list? I'm leaving out the cables

    4x M3-0.5 Stainless Steel A4 Hex Nut (Fastenal #MN2510000A40000)

    Mounting Transformer to Case

I see you're only considering the case at this time, but remember you're installing Speakons *four* times (assuming you're doing so on the speakers as well).

So Neutrik parts, including hardware would be doubled if you plan to use Neutrik NL4MP-UC also on the speakers.

Much appreciated edpot1. $3.41 in fasteners plus $9.61 in shipping seems kind of silly. I will probably go to my local hardware store to get the fasteners. Thanks for including the dimensions and not just the Fastenal part number.

    Thanks again Jay for sharing.

They are just down the street and have a separate wing dedicated to fasteners. I have zero doubt I can find what I need now that I have an idea of what I'm working with.

Why so combative and negative in this thread?

    H9

P.s. Also there is a Fastenal branch minutes from work, but they don't stock all the stuff listed.

I don't know Brock, for a measly $9.61 you get exactly what you need delivered to your door instead of wasting time at the store. Home Depot, Lowe's and Ace all have specialty hardware sections, but will not have all the stainless steel hardware required and what they might have will cost a lot more.

My experience has been very much like @F1nut 's.

I have two very good hardware/lumber yards near me -- one is Ace Hardware, the other True Value. They have very good fastener sections, and one of them has even cut down cap screws for me when they do not have the exact length that I need.

However, I've now begun to order what I need online for specialty products. I get exactly what I want, usually with free shipping, and the price is usually less or equal to those of the hardware stores -- without the cost in driving time and expense.

Lowe's and Home Depot never have everything that I need, except for the most quotidian items.

Power source for all components: Silver Circle Audio Pure Power One with dedicated 20 amp circuit to main panel.

Exercise Room, Innuos Streamer via Cat 6 cable connection to PS Audio PerfectWave MkII DAC w/Bridge II, AQ King Cobra RCAs to Perreaux PMF3150 amp (fully restored and upgraded by Jeffrey Jackson, Precision Audio Labs), Supra Rondo 4x2.5 Speaker Cables to SDA 1Cs (Vr3 Mods Xovers and other mods.), Dreadnaught with Supra Rondo 4x2.5 interconnect cables by Vr3 Mods. Yeah, $10 isn't much, but I think for $2.50 worth of goods that weighs less than a pound. $10 is a bit much. I realize it's not all retailers fault. FedEx and UPS are costly shippers.

FTR, our local hardware store has been in business for over 90 years and is locally owned not a national chain, and I happen to live in what was the screw and fastener capital of the US at one time not that long ago. Lots of surplus availability locally for a long time.

    I'll try them first.

    H9

    P.s. that's $10 less I can spend on tubes! :D

I did go to Home Depot yesterday and wasn't able to find similar parts. Once I have the case and the transformer, I *might* be able to find parts there that would work - the sizes obviously don't have to be exactly what I posted. But given what I know right now about the dimensions, I'll probably go with Fastenal.

To mount the sockets properly those are the correct sizes, it's what Neutrik calls for. I've seen others use improper sizes, which looks like dog poo to me. YMMV.

They were special order only and you missed the group buy. Perhaps someone may have one to sell. If you got to page 1 you will see several links that explains the use and build of one of these. Get your learn on.

I just broke down and bought the fasteners from Fastenal and paid the $10 shipping for $3 worth of stuff. After thinking it through it made sense. I know I could have sourced stuff locally, but my time is worth something and frankly I just want to be done with it and off my mind.

I also decided to get all the Neutrik parts from Parts Express. Along with the other misc parts including red techflex and gold female disconnects. I was thinking I have Canare 4S11 at home currently for my SDA cable, but it turns out it's 4S8, a tad smaller gauge but it should suffice.

I was going to get a 12' piece of 4S11 at Performance Audio and the Neutrik parts, but I'm betting the difference between 11g or 13g wire diameter over a 5 foot run on each side for the SDA signal will be negligible.

I also included one of these if I have issues w/ the tranny or want to run w/o it. Or simply to make a comparison before and after.

So Larry gave me a couple different face plates to mess around with after work. So I thought why not put both connections on one side? I took a blank one and machined a counter bore for each and the appropriate hole locations.

I still say we should come up with a Dreadnought logo.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

That's fine. You don't need to do a run of the boxes. Just make the faceplates. Didn't you used to have something like that? Didn't the crossover mounting plates you used to do have laser etching?

I had a question on Dreadnought wiring, so I'm pasting stuff from previous build posts here:

Binding post connections from DarqueKnight's original 2008 Dreadnought thread. Note this is using the 800VA, but the 1000VA is the same scheme.
    Right Pin = Red/Yellow

Right Blade (Negative Speaker Terminal) = Black/Orange

    Left Pin = Grey/Brown

Left Blade (Negative Speaker Terminal) = Blue/Violet
    DN-inside-side-r.jpg
    DN-rear001-r.jpg

Neutrik connections from F1nut's Neutrik Dreadnought. I believe this arrangement is consistent with Larry's latest batch of cases. For same-side Neutriks with 90deg connectors, see ER308L's post directly above.

Is there a chart here or one that you can post that tells me which wires I should soldered to each numbered tab?
    Red/Yellow (right pin) to 1+

    Grey/Brown (left pin) to 1+
    Blue/Violet (left blade) to 1-

Just wanted to point out that the transformer sounds better in the vertical position, hence the reason you see pretty much everyone else's that way.
