Great effort. When do you think these will be available? I'd like to get a set for my 2.3TL if you get enough produced.>

I don't really want to use paypal if I don't have to they can be a PITA to deal with at times. What's the fee now days 3%, Let me think about it.
Let them pay the 3% or send it as a gift. PayPal is fine from Polkie to Polkie. It's more of a risk dealing with scammers.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Great news. Have we decided on any replacements inductors? My hope would be to build complete replacements for my current 2.3TL's.Polk Audio SDA SRS 2.3TL

The man says he wants USPS money orders....what's the problem!?!
Because it's sooooo much easier. I'll do whatever the man says but the Post Office is not convenient for me personally. I'd gladly pay the 3% or send it as a "gift" so no fee is involved. It will also help greatly with his record keeping as all the info is in the Paypal transaction, rather than a bunch of pieces of paper. He wouldn't even have to go to the bank to deposit the money. He can print all shipping labels from Paypal as well.
It really is the safer, simpler, easier thing to do.
Again whatever is decided I will participate.

I like using PayPal for the reasons heiney states. Printing shipping labels might push you into using it, as it's super convenient.

I get it... I haven't personally had any run-ins with PayPal but know people who have. If it was me doing this, I'd prefer MO's too. Plus, somebody's gotta keep the USPS in business!
I'm in either way as I have the obligatory PayPal account and know where the post office is. -
Paypal issues arise from scammers or because of Ebay's buying/selling policies. Outside of Ebay there are very few issues if any.
Just saying......

Sending a paypal doesn't eliminat the 3% fee. It just gives the sender the ability to pay the fee for the buyer. So far the only time I've ever seen paypal not charge the fee is for collecting the money paid to a seller on stubhub.com, since eBay owns both companies. Other than selling tickets on stubhub, I don't believe there are any exceptions to the paypal fee, the only question is who pays it.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance. -
Can you still use the gift option if your PP account isn't linked to a bank account? I changed banks, and now PP isn't linked anymore and it won't let me send money as a gift. Usually I just offer to make the payment out for more if the seller wants the fee covered, but it is an extra hassle and I don't understand the need for that restriction. It just feels like PP trying to get their hooks into me even more by making me give them access to my checking account.

I send money as a "gift" option all the time outside Ebay. Never had a fee charged on either end.

How else do you fund a Paypal transaction? I'm pretty sure if use only the CC option you can't send as a gift.
What's the issue having it hooked to you checking account? It's safer than a debit card, that's for sure. Been a paypal user for 10 years almost, never a single issue outside of a scumbag or two that messes things up via Ebay transaction.......all within the guidelines, I might add. Eventually things sort themselves out......similar to CC dispute.
I've paid using Paypal at several on-line business to buy tubes at tube depot. Various parts from Parts Connexion, etc. Much easier than using a CC and faster.

Let's not take this thread so far off topic............it's about crossover parts not a discussion about Paypal. Start a new thread or look up the several dozen threads about this exact same issue from the archives.

Tony has expended a lot of effort to provide these boards, along with an instructional website. The price is very reasonable and even generous considering the time and effort involved.
I think that those who want the merchandise should respect his wishes to be paid in whatever form he choses. Isn't that what we do for the other places we shop?Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -

I threw it out there as a convenience to him as well as myself as a buyer. I do regret it veered off topic. As I said before I will abide by whatever he decides. Nothing wrong with suggesting it, but the discussion has gotten quite lengthy for no reason.

Don't worry about. It's not a bad idea but I've thought about it and I just can't do PayPal, It has nothing to do with trusting any of you guys or even the fees (That's just the cost of doing business) or for that matter even PayPal. Unfortunately without going into a lot of personal details that I do not want to share and that a lot of you couldn't care less about your not going to understand this. Sorry it is what it is.
Oh BTW the boards got ordered and they say it can take up to 13 business day to manufacture.“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” ~ Mark Twain -

I was comparing the original SDA-SRS to the 1.2TL to see if I could use these boards with the original SDA. These are the diffs I see (other than values for components) in component placement and thoughts on how to get around them. Unless I am completely missing something..then I hope someone would please educate me.
On the tweeter network.
1. There is a 2.7 ohm resistor that is in series with a .4mH inductor and the - terminal of the HF inputs. On the SRS you have to add a cap in parallel with this resistor which can be easily accomplished by soldering the leads of the cap and the resistor together.
2. in the T1 circuit the 1.2 TL has an additional 12uF cap that is not present in the orginal SRS. This can be worked around with a jumper.
The rest of the tweeter network has essentially the same component placement other than variation in values of the individual components.
For the stereo array. The component placement is the same except for the values of the components.
It gets tricky at the dimensional array and the interconnect socket.
1. The + terminal of the LF input is connected to terminal A of the blade/blade interconnect. This is an easy fix with an additional wire making the connection.
2. There are 2 additional 130uF caps connected in parallel that are added to the original SDA circuit. One end of these caps is connected to where the PIN connector in the 1.2TL circuit sits the other end to terminal B of the blade/blade interconnect.
So what if we ran a wire from the IC terminal of Gimpods new boards (or the PIN connector in the 1.2TL diagram) to one end of the additional caps. and the other end of the caps we attach to terminal B of the blade/blade interconnect. -
If anyone can confirm that this will work. Then that will open up the new boards to the people that have the original SDA.

On paper it look's possible BUT I don't think it'll work mainly because of the physical size of the components. If you want to see what you'd be getting into check this thread by DarqueKnight Further Improvements to the SDA SRS-Custom PCB and SDA Inductor. Personally I wouldn't even try to make these boards work there just too many problems you would run into.

Am I still on the list? I am interested in the 1.2TL Crossover boards.
Thanks.Statistics show that 98% of us will die at some point in our lifetime.
The other 2% will work for WalMart. -
Sorry guys for not answering your PM's & e-mail's I will be doing that today (if I can stay up that long), I ended up in the hospital last Thursday evening and I just got home yesterday.
Ok enough about me, What's up with the boards. There was a little hiccup with the order apparently they can't do two different color solder masks on one board so I had to re-order them. They are going to be all black with white silk screening. So if everything go's as planed I should be able to start taking orders and shipping by the first week of next month.
Also after doing some more thinking about the PayPal thing I decided that PayPal will be ok actually it will be quicker and easier for everyone.
Here's a list of everyone who's on the list for first dibs. Those of you that want more than one pair are covered too.
