Didn't want to hit gimpod with an unsolicited PM... I was just wondering if there's any word on the wider availability of the custom PCBs? And if not yet, is this thread the place to look for them to be announced? Thanks!

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, but I'm still waiting on some of the testers to get off there butts. F1nut got his done http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=113339 for his remarks, Lasareath got his done but not mounted yet as far as I know check out his progress here http://www.polkcrs.com/02-CROSSOVERS/index.htm. I'm waiting on the tester because I want to make the best boards I can for you guys.

Also there's a lot going on behind the scenes regarding these boards, Like a site dedicated to these boards (A big thanks go's out to Lasareath for providing the domain name & server space) it's about 75% done. The site design, schematics and parts placement guides are done, The parts list are all most done (90%) and the full guides need to be done still.

I will update here as much as I can and yes this thread will be the place to look for them to be announced.

Sorry it's taking so long guy's, I really want to get these going to.

No need to apologize at all. It's fantastic that you're doing this (and of course the beta testers and Lasareath). I wish I had the gumption and know-how to lay out my own clean socks and underwear let alone a circuit board.

I've been following the progress on PolkCRS.com, and it's definitely got me motivated in a big way. But I'll just subscribe to this thread and sit tight. Thanks again!

Well I finely got the web site for these boards up and going (A BIG thanks go's out to Lasareath for providing the domain name and server space) you can check it out here www.gimpod.com I've got every thing done except the "Hint's & Tip's" section still working on that, The parts list, part placement guides and schematic's are done. So take a look and let me know what you think.

So when are these boards going to be ready? I don't know still waiting on the testers but I think I'm going to go ahead and order a small run after the first of the month.

That's all folks, for now. And again A BIG thanks go's out to Lasareath.

Great job! will ordering be done through the site? Your layout on the page makes it so easy even a caveman could do it. Please put me down for a set from the first batch.

The hover-over is nice for a quick reference, but if someone is at a worktable with a soldering iron in their hand, a printable parts placement guide would be a lot more helpful. Just something like a text file that says:

    40 mf (total) cap C2A and C2B. Recommended 2 20 mf Sonicaps.
5.8 mf cap C5 (only for TL)

etc. Not really step by step instructions, but those might be handy too to make this upgrade more accessible to more people. Though there's an obvious downside to that as well, since then some people might get in over their head, doing silly things like clipping leads on inductors and such.

Not to be a smart **** (but I am one:wink:) but there is such a thing it's called a schematic, you can download it and print it and it shows you where everything go's.

I'm working on a general assembly guide and the VERY first section is a list of things not to do. I'm try to do the guide so that it will help out the first timer's the most.

Since you are being so nice...for those of us who don't like to read and for those of us who are not "hands on", could you just put together a complete kit we can order from you which includes all parts and a detailed full color assembly manual and contact info of forum members who will assemble these for us?

After talking to the beta testers F1nut, Lasareath, TOOLFORLIFEFAN (haven't heard a peep from the other two headrott and mole' even after numerous attempts to get hold of them :frown:) I've decided to go ahead and order a production run of the boards also I've decided on a price of $100.00 a pair including shipping.

Now there are somethings you need to be aware of.
First: Mounting (This only affects the SDA SRS 1.2/TL and the CRS+).
Because of the size of the new boards (10" x 5 1/4" vs 5 3/4" x 4 1/4") the only place I can think of to mount them in the CRS+'s is on the bottom of the enclosure and extend the leads (P & R) up to the big 16mH inductor. Now that brings us to the SDA SRS 1.2's, I might suggest that you could mount the board on the crossover plate plug everything in and then slide the top in at an angle then move the whole assembly up so you can slip the bottom in and then bolt in place (it should be able to fit through the cabinet opening measuring 4-3/4" high by 14-3/16" wide) and if that doesn't work you could mount the bare crossover plate first then slide the assembled crossover through the hole for the PR and then bolt in place.

Second: Let me ensure you that these boards are electrically identical to the originals with two exceptions, there is no place for the 750pF Silver Mica bypass cap(C4) for C3 it's not needed with the newer/better cap's you can buy today and nobody uses it anyway also I added a jumper (J4) for the Non-TL 2.3's & 1.2's to make things a little easier.

    Ordering & Shipping:
    1. These boards will be for Club Polk members ONLY!
    2. These boards will go on sale in the FM when I have them in hand and ready to ship.
    3. Payment will be by USPS money order only.
    4. Shipping will be by USPS Priority Mail.
If you want more info about the boards, schematics and what parts you'll need go check out www.gimpod.com.

That's it for now boys & girls, When I get them in my hot little hands I'll put them up for sale in the Flea Market.

So this is NOT an order thread and you are only taking orders once the boards are manufactured?

That's correct, I just don't think it's right to start taking orders and money until I actually have product to ship.

BTW: I've got you on the list along with everyone else who has posted here that they would like a pair, you guys are first in line.

I don't really want to use paypal if I don't have to they can be a PITA to deal with at times. What's the fee now days 3%, Let me think about it.
