here is another post for you then cnh. The review an audioholics support just what we have said here all along. The EMO amps are probably great if you are stepping up from an AVR, but they just don't have the finnesse of many of the preferred higher priced/quality amplifiers.HT

The Emo amps have about as much finnesse as the recent trolls that have invaded."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Don't really disagree with you a_m,
Emo amps occupy a place in the market. They're a direct buy company and their equipment is probably better than the price point they sell at. Any more claims than that is where you get your debates. I would assume that they are some sort of reverse engineering design--that copies/adds to some other original design. But that's just a guess.

Maybe a little more... The 125wpc amp DID sound better than a 40wpc AVR.HT

I know for a fact that several Club Polk members were reverse engineered.

Yea. An EMO amp might be good for this guy.. http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81904 since he has underpowered LSI's and isn't interested in spending a ton of $. As long as he doesn't get infected with the never ending quest for better sound that most of us have he will be ok and notice an improvement over the AVR.HT

Actually, in all honesty, I would consider an Emo for a HT setup. Then again, I am not all concerned about accurate sound reproduction in my home theater. I just bought a pair of TSi400s for my fronts, a pair of TSi300s for my rears, a CS20 center and a DSW Pro 400 sub. These will all be driven by a Denon AVR-2309CI. Compared to what I've been willing to spend on my 2-channel system, this gear is very modest.
If I decided that the Denon was underpowering my speakers, I would definitely look into an Emo amp for a cheap, easy wattage boost. Quality wise, it seems about in line with the rest of my HT equipment.
2-channel is a completely different story. Personally (and YMMV) I wouldn't let a Emo piece near my 2-channel system. But that's because I am obsessive about fidelity in my 2-channel system. As far as HT is concerned, I don't need to spend thousands of dollars so I can hear an explosion in perfect hi fidelity. I take no issue with people who spend a lot on the HT (I appreciate a good HT as much as anyone), but I'd rather spend my funds on 2-channel gear.
Sorry for jacking this thread with real information!

Don't you two have ANY ADCOM left in your blood? My HT is powered by the GFA-7000 and I wouldn't change a thing. Think I bought mine for $475 or something like that. Big difference over the H/K AVR and similar sound to the GFA-555.

We're the two biggest ADCOM advocates on CP (with the possible exception of Ben)! I still have a GFA-585 in my office rig (for the time being) and an extra GFP-555 pre that's going up for sale in the FM soon.
I love ADCOM and have had one of their pieces in my system for at least 15 years. Lately I've just been looking to take things to the next level and try some new gear./COLOR] My Rigs [COLOR="Red" Balanced Audio Technology | Revel | Dodd | Monarchy | PS Audio | MIT | Polk | Etc. -

No, I don't think you would. You could buy really nice used gear for less and it would even sound better."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I said I would seriously consider an Emo in the event that I wanted a wattage boost for my HT. I would certainly look at all options. Still, having five channels @ 200W into 8ohms in one chassis for $799 is appealing for the level of fidelity I expect out of my HT.
Then again, three ADCOM 555s could be had for around $900 and would probably do a nice job as well!/COLOR] My Rigs [COLOR="Red" Balanced Audio Technology | Revel | Dodd | Monarchy | PS Audio | MIT | Polk | Etc. -

Or a used 3 or 5 channel Adcom or Rotel or........any of those are better choices than Emo, IMHBO. (in my humble brotherly opinion)."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Yeah, but I'm only powering some TSi series speakers. If I were running LSis, I would probably not even consider the Emo and get right into some ADCOM gear. But, again, for what the rest of my HT consists of, I think the Emo would fit in well./COLOR] My Rigs [COLOR="Red" Balanced Audio Technology | Revel | Dodd | Monarchy | PS Audio | MIT | Polk | Etc.

I'm temporarily powering a set of M70s with an Adcom with a Denon AVR as a pre/pro and you'd be surprised what a difference that makes over the Denon which is a nice piece and supposedly has plenty of POWER to handle M-series speakers!

Just an update for all of you guys that are so interested in my situation here. I am already on my 176th unit, and still not satisfied. I am sending this one back still sealed in the box. It has a sticker that says "open other side", but the box is too heavy and I can't move it. EMO should have directed UPS to deliver the box in the right position. I don't care if they did and this is UPS's fault. I'll let them decide who's at fault here, but I am starting to think UPS has something to do with all these EMO QA issues. They must be making a fortune out of all these return shipments._________________________________________________

You should try Fed Ex. Never had a problem with them...but I suspect it's not them but the double boxing from the shipper? I've never ordered an Emo so I can't comment on how they're boxed and shipped. But then again...176th unit? Good one.

Wow, never thought of that one. Now I know why they were so mad when I returned unit number 118th. When I opened the box, all I saw inside was.....ANOTHER BOX!!!!:mad:_________________________________________________

I assume that's an honest question there, because on this thread you can't tell. If you read through all of this you'll see more than a few Polkies who think they 'are' and run them, mostly for Home Theater.
