Believe me Matt, I'm not in the habit of keeping track of anyone's postings but since you popped into a thread at AH that was discussing the benefits of amplification & quoted some of Marty's post it was kind of hard NOT to make the connection.

But that is neither here nor there. The fact is around here most people believe their ears & not some meaningless test. You are not going to change your mind & we aren't going to change ours on this particular issue so it's best to agree to disagree.

Nice post Tony. More options & more opportunities to get a larger segment of people interested in getting the most out of their speakers is a very good thing.

Too many people still try to make this an Us vs Them when it doesn't have to be that way.

This thread reminds me of the old days when Emerson,Fisher,Zenith, were considered hi-fi.
Though fisher did have some good products, most of the line was junk.Emo has yet to display products as time tested like some other major brands,so we shall see.Obviously they aim at first timers jumping into seperates, but with the costs of some quality used gear out there today...I dunno guys.Time will tell.

Small world, I have been in Paris, Tennessee since 1990 - about 300 miles west of you and up close to the KY border... I lived most of my life in Morristown, Tennessee - about 40 miles east of you. I have spent a lot of time in Knoxville. It sure is beautiful country up there!! I also spent a lot of time in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg area..sure miss it!

    Nice!!

Make sure you post a nice lengthy review on your Juniors Most Fabulous New York Cheesecake once you've gotten some eating time in on it. I'm really interested in hearing how it compares to Emu Pie.

So have you decided to not order any Emotiva gear yet?

    DAMN GOOD Cheesecake! Nuff said.

I called EMO up to tell them I wasn't going to order anything. THEY HUNG UP ON ME! What kind of excellent customer service is that?

Would you go so far as to say that it's World Class, Reference Quality Cheesecake? If so...I'm gonna have to get me some.

Terrible customer service there. If they won't take the time of day to help someone that doesn't own any of their products, or have any intentions of purchasing any, then I want nothing to do with them.

I fully intend to not purchase any Emotiva gear, at any point in time, for any reason whatsoever. They've pushed me over the edge with this.

I'm going to go have a piece of this delicious PIE now. It's Sara Lee French Silk PIE. Truly reference quality. It should be quite good.

I actually have a post all ready to go for this thread. No strange reaction here. Finally got my ears on Emo and I was woefully underwhelmed. I will post my impressions later. I had high hopes based on all the fan boy comments........what a disappointment.

Let's just say "the value" shines through when listening. To be fair I had almost the same reaction to Outlaw amps a few years ago when they were the internet flavor of the month.

    H9

So when are you going to post your impressions/review?
Just curious, as i'd like to hear some reviews from people who own and have heard other equipment besides Emotiva. I know i could go to the Emotiva Lounge for that, but it's usually the same things said over and over again by the same people.

That is what humans perceived for thousands of years, yet through science we discovered we were completely wrong.

    Here's a quote by Nelson Pass(snagged from Brock's sig...thanks Brock:))
"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass

There's a lot of truth in that. You can read all the specs you want, but that still isn't going to tell you very much about how something sounds. It gives you a certain amount of insight as to what you should expect it to sound like, but the numbers can only say so much. There are amps that sound incredible in some peoples rigs, and utterly terrible in others. Does that make it a **** amp? Not at all...the synergy just wasn't on in the second rig like it was in the first.

The specs are still the same no matter what rig you use it in...but the sound could be a night and day difference.

    Wrong. WRONG!.

Here's an example of a good business model, from which everyone should learn!
Sara Lee is examining a sale of its European household and personal-care business as the company seeks to reverse a decline in its stock and focus on its core food and beverage business, the Wall Street Journal reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

The right Business Model: Focus on PIE!!!
