I'm not mad at all. It is what it is. I think the forum would be better and have more diverse and more interesting posters if the standards were raised. That's my perspecitive as a new member.

Be sure to live up to your own standards and don't become a hypocrite. Your a border line hypocrite with some of your comments that some have already pointed out. I'm just saying.............walk the walk, talk the talk.

    Russ scares me. ;)

No need to be scared, what would scare me is if he started to act normal . Now that would be scary!! ;)

Normal is like the term mid-fi, we all define it differently and some would prefer not to be labeled as anything. I hope we can still use the word "normal" w/o offending the mid-fi haters.

Here's the thing....while I can see your point, most the time it's newcommers who start ****. To let it go unanswered would be tragic to this forum. They either man up,or leave. We kinda like it that way. Whats the point of doubling the member count if most are going to be bozo's? I think we welcome all newbs with respect untill they prove unworthy of it, which alot of times, happens to be the case. They may go to audioholics or some other board, and thats ok because we don't want to be like those forums. I can agree that even the most seasoned member here can be out of line from time to time, but thats life, deal with it.

This is what I saw in this forum from the beginning, and find it extremely refreshing. There is no protection!

We periodiacally have someone show up here to opine that the forum would be so much better if it would only conform to THEIR view of what it should be. The way I see it...there are thousands of forums out there...so if this one doesn't appeal to someone...they need to find one (or more) that does. The forum...warts and all...has evolved over time based on the participation of many people...some for a very long time. Some new participants show up...and hang around...some don't. Life and the forum goes on.

I think it's funny that somehow a lot of people seem to assimilate here without any problems whatsoever. Sure, there are a couple of folks here that violate my 'No Doucher' policy...but, that's true of society in general.

I've seen a few overly-moderated forums....and they have thier own issues as well...the main one being that they are BORING.

It seems to me, the only people to be pointed out, are clowns starting crap here.

Wow, if sarcasam and profanity are the big gripes....ugh.

I just did a little looking....the OP's first thread, he was welcomed with open arms....AND invited to join in a Polkie trip AND invited to RT1's abode....all this from just a first post.

Yeah, real bunch of **** we are. The fact is, this is pretty tight knit group. There are a lot of us who spend a lot of time and resources promoting the good will here. It's a pretty vibrant community....but it's also one of the most generous ones as well. So, before we go saying that 'this' or 'that' needs to be fixed.....I think a more comphrehensive view is needed.

A couple examples of some of the goodwill around here.....

    Polkfest
    Russ's Hurricane Katrina donation
    Nascarman's passing
    Bob McG's amp
All the Pony Expresses to get items from Point A to Point B
any number of instances of gear being given away to help someone out.

I could go on but hopefully the point is made....this stuff is all in the archives to research...so, yeah, I'll take THAT and look the other way at some sarcasm and an F-bomb or two.

Very good Troy, may I add the generous donations to Mr. Grands charity and the generous charity he himself deals out constantly.

The member who's house burnt down and the people who offered up audio gear for him.

The constant Kharma's that go on.

The mini-get togethers that go on all over the country

The list can go on forever,
The networking of members goes far beyond audio also, as Lightman and soo many others have proven.

This so called audio club,is soo much more than that, and me for one,am damn proud to be a member here.

    Nicely said Troy.

The forum does not need to change. It is pretty well moderated by the users. If you find something really offensive you have 3 options, one is to put a user on your ignore list, another is to report the post. Lastly, just don't read.

I had a thread awhile back, where some one had posted a problem members personal information. I had reported my on thread to be removed, and after an hour it was gone. I had a problem with the poster also, but I thought it was out of line. You have the right to help keep this forum a good forum. There is a ton of information on here, as well as a lot of good conversation. Good luck, and enjoy your stay.
