Curt, you can order the stereo singles off Amazon.

A couple of weeks back, the local Best Buy in Metairie (New Orleans) had the "White" album and "Past Masters" double albums priced thae same as the other single albums. Needless to say I picked them up.
When you are at the store, make sure you pick up "Let It Be Naked", the George Martin version. I think that is the best version since it is more "Beatlesque".

I've been managing to find them all locally. I added Help! and Magical Mystery Tour today. All I need to get now is Please, Please Me, Beatles For Sale, With the Beatles and A Hard Days Night.

They have several copies of each of them locally. I'm not in a big hurry to get those 4 though. Those are the first 4 albums...and I'm not as big on those ones as the later ones.

My girlfriend has Let It Be Naked...we were just listening to it the other night actually. It's got some great cuts on it...I'm gonna have to pick a copy up sometime.

So, I think Revolver is starting to take over as my favorite Beatles album. It's always been between Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper...but I've been listening to Revolver a lot lately.

    It's an EXCELLENT album.

I see that there are mixed emotions regarding the stereo and mono sets. What the hell, I ordered the Mono set as well. Should have them both by end of next week.

So, is anyone noticing a more expansive SDA effect on the remasters versus the originals?

I checked unsuccessfully to see if this was playing on the CDN History channel. That would be great, hook-up a DVR and keep with the remastered collection

Ok, I have the day off tomorrow all by myself. At 6:40 PM tonight (very last minute to leave) we leave for my son's broomball game. I back out of the driveway at the back of the house and stop. I tell my wife there is someone at the front door as I can see a figure through the truck window, through the kitchen window and through the front door window. Sure enough, my wife and son jump out of the truck and go around the front of the house. IT'S THE MAIL MAN. And guess what he has? Yes the stereo box set. Am I going to have fun tomorrow ALL day tomorrow with nobody to interrupt me! :)

My wife gets back in the truck and says, I cannot believe that you could see someone at the front door. I told it it was an innate audio attribute that I acquired from my buds at Polk Fest. I guess that is when I was born. :D

I added Beatles For Sale to the collection yesterday!

All I need now is Please, Please Me, With the Beatles and A Hard Days Night. Hopefully I'll be snagging them up soon as well.

Then I just might have to save the coin up for the mono box set...

If you purchased the stereo box set, then how do you know the mono isnt that great? I purchased both sets and for some albums (Sgt Pepper for instance) the mono version is far superior.

Well if you already have most of the Beatles albums I wouldn't them buy again. On my 2 systems they sounded very loud in the highs, and the lows didn't did in very deep. I listened on SDAs and Polk monitors... Just my opinion.

Or, for an alternative opinion, I'd like to state that both sets are excellent, delivering their own distinctive strengths, and represent some of the finest remastering these ears have ever witnessed.

Any time I lose sight of this fact I just pop in one of the several discs I have issued in 1990 for about 10 seconds. But of course just my opinion.

I'll see soon enough since I've made my mind of getting the stereo set also. So far quite please with the end result of the mono set but if one wants to own the Bealtes as they really were, we have to realize that some of the songs were actually delivered in both mono and stereo while others only in either mono or stereo. With all the mix opinions, I can't wait to buy the stereo set (just waiting for the right time ;) )

I wish there were more "ABying" comments, anyone?

    Cheers!

I found the opposite to be true.
With that said, I decided to compare Peppers first. I put in the mono version, pressed play and didn't get beyond the first song as it was basically unlistenable. It sounded as though I was listening inside of a tunnel to music that was at the opposite end.

Wow, well, to each their own. All I can say is that, for me, Pepper is like a whole new album to me in mono. LSD has amazing vocal effects I never heard in stereo and She's Leaving Home is also totally different. Revolver and the White Album are wonderful in mono as well. Howeverm I can see how others might not like them. I dont, however, see how anyone could find mono Pepper to be unlistenable!

I have 5 of the remasters, now I just need "Revolver" and "Magical Mystery Tour" and I"m all set. All of mine are stereo, and sound great! It sounds as though they did some better blending of channels on the remasters as the centerstage is far better defined.

Good and bad things. They did a lot of modern recording tricks to Abbey road and the white album. There's a bit of compression going on, with the whole
thing sounding louder. They boosted the bass quite a bit. I'm not sure I like it.

The remastered stereo cds don't sound any different to my 1980's vintage stereo vinyls. I have a good system and a keen ear. I was left underwhelmed by my purchase of the box set.

Well, I'm sorry to inform Bono that, upon further listenings of the remastered White Album, the Beatles have now stole it back from U2.
