got my mono box from beatles.com today, ordered it on 8/29. just listened to "please please me" while ripping them on my computer (aiff) and already i'm liking what i'm hearing. packaging is sweet... the replica miniture version of the lp w/ the vinyl sleeve... nice. also got the stereo remastered of "abbey road" and "let it be" from costco.
ps: pmckeealaska, you are right... the shipping charge was a rip off!

Ugh...this FedEx Smartpost is beyond aggravating. I see that my box set departed the sorting site in West Virginia on the 21st and there is STILL no update on progress. I had to wait 5 days from the time I saw the shipping had been initiated to the time I saw it was in the process of being shipped. I have never heard of a slower shipping method....and for $23.95 in shipping I am feeling pretty much ripped off. If it was any other band than the Beatles i would be raising holy hell. I'd advise anyone to steer clear of Smartpost.

I was looking at the stereo set on Amazon last week, and they said 2-4 weeks for delivery.
NOW, it says 'out of stock'. With NO indication of when it'll become available!

Oh, and BTW, this/ these boxsets are still the #1 selling.
Not bad for a band that stopped EXISTING 40 years ago:eek::D
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

    Yeah, I saw this too.

But there wasn't a limited pressing of the Stereo box so that will definately be available for an indefinate period of time. They are probably overwhelmed with orders and thus didn't want to give a guarantee ship date anymore. I imagine it will still probably be some time in October for those who have their order in. But the price has gone up from $180 to $195.

As for the mono box sets, those were supposed to be limited to 10,000 units, all of which of course sold out prior to 9/9. Now they are doing a second run of mono boxes as well (due to overwhelming customer demand). At first Amazon said 3-6 weeks and then changed it to 2-4 weeks and now they say the same thing as you indicated above "out of stock, we'll notify you when its available' I read somewhere that Capitol/Apple had planned to issue an additional 20,000 boxes, but in another place that no specific number has been released. I've put my "pre-order" in with Amazon for the mono box and don't anticipate a problem. Hopefully some time in October. But unlike the Stereo boxes, there's nothing indicating that they will continue to issue more mono box sets after this second run.

Well gee, where do I even begin. If you've read my rants on here about the time its taking for me to get my Beatles Mono Box Set you wont be suprised by the fact that it is STILL not in my hands. Unbelievable. I have always been happy with the speed of FedEx but this Smartpost thing is the biggest pile of horse dump I have ever experienced. You would think paying $24 for shipping would at least allow you to get a package in 10 days at the most. It's going on 2 weeks now and still nothing. The tracking number says it left Kent Washington (just south of Seattle) on the 25th and yet....nothing. I mean, are they trucking it overland through Canada to Alaska?

If anyone chooses to order anything off of the Beatles website (like I did), avoid using FedEx Smartpost if at all possible. Horrible, horrible, horrible!!

Here's something funny. Was in Target a few days ago, just checking that maybe on an off-chance they had the mono set in stock. I don't even think they sell it...

But they had the individual stereo cd's for sale. White Album was either $18.99 or $19.99, I forget. But they also had the original White Album 1987 version still on the shelves for $29.99. I bet those are FLYING off the shelf!
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Another thing to consider is that many first runs of CDs tend to be offered cheaper at first (for the first few weeks and months). The Beatles remasters have a nominal MSRP of $18 a pop for the singles and $30 for the double-discs, I believe. Its entirely possible that six months later the prices of these at the big box stores will be closer to these MSRPs, even though there are usually cheaper alternatives (i.e. Amazon).

By the way, for those interested in picking up the singles I've heard elsewhere that Target has a special deal of 10.99 for the singles and when you buy 2 you get a $5 coupon on your next purchase. I've heard its running through Oct. 6 or something. It all depends on the stock of your local store, though. The day after the catalog was released I went to my Target and there was nada....

A few days ago I was searching Tower.com and they indicated they had Mono boxes in stock for $220 shipped. I ordered one right away, but since I remained sceptical I didn't bother cancelling my Amazon order. Good thing I didn't -- Tower contacted me the next day indicating that my order was cancelled as they didn't really have any in stock. This is the second time I've ordered from a website the indicated it was in stock when in fact it wasn't...so just waiting on Amazon now......

Just to further Norms point regarding MSRPs, the price on the single disc stereo releases was $12.99 at HMV and a few other music stores in the Toronto area during the first week of release. I noticed yesterday that HMV were up to $15.99, and I saw $17.99 at a few other shops.

Yep, to say the mono set is hard to get is an understatement. Its the 30th now and I'm still waiting on my Mono Box Set. Last I heard it was leaving Kent Washington on the 25th. They must be shipping the thing by barge for it still not to be here in Anchorage. Every day that goes by that I still dont have it makes me feel dumber for having had it shipped with the POS service that is FedEx Smartpost.

Yes, but their price for the stereo box ($235) is over $50 more than Amazon's pre-order price up to last week, when it went up to $195. I guess it matters how urgent you want it.

But Al is correct in noting that its the mono box that myself and (some) others are having particular difficulty locating.

Thanks for the website link nevertheless. I've been trying to build up my jazz collection lately so I'll have a look here.

Wonder of wonders. I see that my box set is now in anchorage at the post office, which is about 2 blocks from my house. Got there yesterday morning. Took it 5 days to get from Seattle to here. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes to get from the post office to my house. I hope I can get it in time for the weekend but I'm not holding my breath!

They sent out a news letter July 29th offering (preorder) the mono at $239 shipped.
I don't know what everyone is selling it for now, but that was $60 off retail.

They were offering the stereo (preorder) at $199 shipped.

I bought some Grado's there since they sold them $10 cheaper than anywhere else (as a gift to someone), and customer service was fantastic. They have a pretty good vinyl selection too (not just jazz).
