It's tough to build a compelling argument against guns with rare cases such as this. The reason your story is so shocking is because scenes like that rarely happen. If we are going to use this logic then we should ban cars which kill people daily in both violent acts of rage and negligence. While we are at it. Actually, a better analogy is the banning of airplanes and jets. Far less people die of flight related than car related accidents each year.

That being said, I wonder what would have happened if the school teacher had a rifle under her desk? Maybe the school should have just locked their doors? You know what! That's it! By your logic, the gunman probably just wanted to scare everyone. The principal should have locked the doors and called the police.

Aaaaand you're talking about soemplace where guns were ALREADY illegal. So not only is your "opinion" that having guns outlawed outright wrong because outlawing guns has been proven to make society more dangerous, not more safe, BUT you have also proven that your "opinion" that gun laws actually have an effect is wrong because gun laws DON'T keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

But seriously, it's totally a valid opinion. It's wrong on every single account, in every measurable way, but feel free to stick to it.

A serious question - if you want tyrannically strict government control, why do you live in America? A nation that's based on ideas contrary to that? Why don't you move to China, where the government controls every single thing you do? It must be so safe! Please, go.

One more thing - it's awfully convenient that every time someone brings something up you have in-depth personal experience about it. I'm shocked - someone brings up England, and you just happen to have spent years living there! SHOCKED! WHat are the odds?

As I said earlier you are entitled to your opinion. What happened here was when others voiced their opinion that differed from yours you became belligerent. I think if I shot someone dead I'd be saying all those things too. Try to cover up for myself. Might be true, might not be true. Maybe the guy acted in self defense, maybe he over reacted and plugged some poor kid.

I don't think we'll ever know for sure you guys, but it's an interesting discussion. :)

Hmmm... Well it seems that since the police have not filed any charges because the evidence clearly matches the homeowners story I would say it's a safe bet that it was self defense not that he over reacted and as you say plugged some poor kid.
