Slow your inability to grasp the obvious even after it has been pointed out to you is remarkable. The fact that you may feel comfortable going toe toe with a 6'3 drunk or drugged up or both man is no sign that the homeowner felt the same way, and just because the perp didnt assault anyone else earlier does not mean that his intentions were harmless in the homeowners place.
The fact that he chose to not leave when the homeowner asked him too then decided that he was going to fight for the shotgun should be evidence that his intentions at this point were not harmless.
As far as I am concerned the homeowner not only had a right to protect himself in this situation but a responsibility to his family and the other people living in that apt building to do so.
What is sad is that now the parents of the kid involved and the homeowner himself will have to live with the choices that the kid made and the ensuing results, in essence when he chose to fight for control of a loaded weapon he chose to commit suicide. No one wants too or wanted to kill this kid but sometimes you have to make a difficult choice and the homeowner was faced with that decision kill or take the risk of being killed.

So exactly what was the homeowner supposed to do when this intruder decided to try and take the gun away from him? Just let him have it? The young man got shot because he tried to take away the gun. He was the intruder. He was asked to leave. He started the physical confrontation. He is now dead. Do you see the correlation here? Quit trying to make the homeowner out to be some evil racist monster. He protected his family and home, and there is nothing vigilante about that. It's sad the young man lost his life, but it was all due to his actions. -

I think if I shot someone dead I'd be saying all those things too. Try to cover up for myself. Might be true, might not be true. Maybe the guy acted in self defense, maybe he over reacted and plugged some poor kid.
I don't think we'll ever know for sure you guys, but it's an interesting discussion.

There are a lot of countries that don't exactly care for America too much...it's a very real possibility. I'm not saying that it's going to happen anytime immediately...but who knows what could happen 50 years from now? I don't know, neither do you. Just because this is America, doesn't mean it's impossible.

Also, take note of the fact that if guns are outlawed for citizens...the only citizens that still have guns will be criminals. You think they're going to give up their firearms just because they're illegal? Yeah...right.
