It's interesting to note when a given contestant "hits the wall", the point at which they are unable to leave their comfort zone and make changes for the better. Lil has certainly reached that point. Anoop on the other hand went from bottom 3 material a few weeks ago to a solid #3 or #4.

    1) Adam
    2) Allison
    3) Danny
    4) Anoop
    5) Kris
    6) Matt
    7) Lil

Lil Round and Anoop would get my vote to go home tonight. More Lil Round than Anoop, but Matt could also be in Jeopardy.

    Kris is great, btw.

ok, now that Lil and Anoop were dismissed, should we just map out the rest of the season?

    Next week: Matt
    in 2 weeks: Allison
    in 3 weeks: Kris
in the final: Adam and Danny, and the crown goes to Adam.

As much as Allison can sing, she can't connect to the voters. Hence, my prediction is that she would be gone before the final.

I'm more Adam, Allison, Danny in the top 3 with Adam winning, but you make a good point that Allison doesn't seem to connect with America. Matt is definitely weakest.

What were the producers trying to do with those horrible performers they trotted out on stage last night? They were nearly unwatchable. I almost had to turn it off but it was like a gruesome car wreck that you hated see, but couldn't take your eyes off of.

you saw those too? I thought I was the only one cringed, watching those disco legends put their 70s show. KC was the only one that I could bear to appreciate.

I think Matt will go next week, then Allison the next. That leaves Adam, Danny and Kris. Of them, I don't know. The judges (mostly) love Adam for his histrionics and theatrics. Granted he does have a good voice and can nail those high notes. Personally, I get tired of his banshee wail he manages to put into every performance. Also, I don't care for his theatrical performances. Just sing the song! So I hope he goes in three weeks, leaving the two "nice guys", Danny and Kris. Of those two, I hope Kris wins. He has a unique ability to take a well-known song, re-cast it and make it his own. Plus, his "aw shucks" demeanor is charming and and the chicks dig him. What more could you want in your next American Idol?

Oh yeah, I agree that the "disco legends" they had on were lame, lamer and lamest. It's a shame performers can't dress "age appropriate", and even more of a shame they don't know when to hang it up altogether.

I am sticking to my prediction from last week, to a T.

Vocally, Matt showed his limitations tonight. There is a slight chance that Allison might go home tomorrow. But it has to do more with her inability to connect, rather than her voice.

I think this is exactly what's going to happen.

Based on last night's performances, for the first time I see Danny winning over Adam.

I think Allison connects just fine. I don't know why they say that but I think they 'lead' votes to steer toward their favorites. At least Simon. He is a producer and the bottom line is $$$$$$. I have to admit though that Adam is leaps and bounds above the rest HOWEVER I wish he would tone down the broadway just a smidge. The over the top is what keeps me from committing to him 100%. I look forward to seeing his and Allison's career future. Maybe Kris too.

I think over the top is what makes him so entertaining. He's great at selling the music he sings. When I go see a live concert, I want to be blown away, if I wanted to watch someone just stand there and sing I would just go watch karaoke at the local pub.

I don't know. I think someone can be talented and entertaining without being overly theatrical.

Well, Matt had to go. I like the fact that Adam was in the bottom 2. That will show him that his pretty voice is not everything he needs.

Goes to show anything can happen in the next couple of weeks.

Man! If I was starting to cut Adam some slack with the whole arrogance thing, he blew it for me last night. I can't believe he actually picked a group that he thought he deserved to be in. He is so talented but needs to come down a bit in his own inflated giant sized Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade baloon head.

True!!! Several others have been asked to do that in the past and I don't think anyone actually chose a group. I guess he learned the lesson last night.

A lot of people think that Simon Cowell is a producer but that is not true as far as I can tell. Simon Fuller is the producer and creator along with Nigel somebody. I'm not saying I disagree with the rest of it, but Simon is just a judge.

By being in the bottom 3, I'm afraid that Adam's fans got the "Daughtry wake up call" that will drive them to vote until the end.

I've always loved Danny, but I think Kris may catch him (even though he WAS in the bottom 3). He really works a song & just seems to have a bit more of the star quality - whatever that is - about him. But Danny sure can blow!

Adam - yeah - just over the top. Somebody said, "banshee wail." Perfect.

Haha, here's some hyperbole for everyone :

From the LA Times of all things.
We will never know how close “American Idol’s” eighth season came to disaster Wednesday night. Had Adam Lambert been eliminated last night, a grieving nation would have spent all eternity shaking their heads in disbelief, haunted by the specter of what might have been.… In the annals of “Idol” tragedy – grim pages recounting the dark moments of Daughtry, of Hudson, of Grey — tonight could have marked the bleakest chapter yet for our republic. [...]

To take stock — first of all, while we pause, shaken by the almost cataclysm, let us not forget that to avert this disaster, we were forced to make a tragic Sophie’s choice, giving to Angel of Death Seacrest one of the most likable talents ever to grace the Idoldome. The judges’ use of the wild card and the save on Matt will go down, as Kara said, as the judges’ profiles in courage, bestowing a young man of grace, panache and good humor on our nation.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

but, yeah, it was a close call to Adam's pandemic Wednesday night
