Is it worth spending the extra money for a alpine hu when I'm going to be using the dual pre-outs to pass the signal to a factory amp (harman/kardon) in the back of my 95 range rover?
I would replace the amp or bypass it but I've checked the range rover sites and no one knows how to do it without running new wires to all the speakers since it's currently a common ground speaker system. -
You should get a little better sound as you're using better quality preouts. the real advantage, though, is the tuning capabilities and being able to add aux sources such as ipod, usb, cdchanger, or satellite radio.

I plan on getting a bike in a year or two. Since I'm a novice, I think I'll be starting off with a sbr250, ninja 250 or something else in that class. I don't think I'd be willing to start off with anything larger than a 500 or 650cc engine. -
Get a ninja 500. Fantastic starter bikes. I don't recommend the 250s.

Thanks for the input. One of my friends has a ninja but I'm not sure if its the 500. I was also considering a sv650. if I can find an old cbr600 or ninja 500/650, I'd probably consider them. The reason I want a 250 is because they're light and I don't want to drop 6-7k on a bike that I might end up wrecking. Need a beater to learn on first -

Little late now, but my 500 was purchased around august of 07, its an 2005 model with 2300 miles on it, got it for $3500. The ninja 250s are great bikes, but IMO, the 500s are safer and a better representation of a bigger bike, if thats what you want to get later on.
Reason why I think the 500 is safer is because sometimes you need some power to get out of the way, 500 is more apt to give you that power.
Its also a little larger, which gives you more experience with a bike that can actually go highway speed comfortably. I would consider getting a liter bike after a 500, a liter bike after a 250 is a GIANT step with a huge learning curve.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll keep that in mind.
