Since we are all measuring our things, I used to have 9KW and 4 18" kicker subs in the house. I sold off the amps after the neighbors moved and I got into tubes. Can't seem to part with the kickers though. Someday I'll hook them up in a HT.

I don't need to measure...I get perfectly good sensory feedback...so measuring is unnecessary.

Gidrah, are you in the showcase? I'd love to see pics of the DQ10's. I'm hoping it will motivate me to get mine out of the closet.

Showcase? Hahahahahaha! Nope. No grill cloths, a pair of A-7s stacked in between them, empty beer cans, dirty socks, etc. A true man-cave.

Looks like a short stack of pancakes, all cookin each other. Before you power up again, go get some spacers, perhaps even a cooling fan also.

I might be the newest member of the 200 wpc club after buying Tom T's Adcom GFA 5500. I understand all the chatter about "you need more power" vs. "no, you just need 'quality' power," yet I'm just glad for what more & good power did for my system.

I wouldn't worry to much about the stack, I had the bottom 3 components and none of them generated much heat.

    P.S. I forgot one, buttkicker amp puts out 1000watts into a 4ohm load and 1900 into 2ohms.

You forgot about your riding lawn mower and your air conditioned tractor. Get out the wallet ;)

Don't tempt me. I'll do it ...I swear I will.

HT set-up is next to join the Club. As soon as Emotiva sends me my XPA-5 & XPA-2. The pre/pro will be on the way as soon as I decide hwat to buy. It will be an Emotiva but not sure which one?

Believe it or not but there is almost no heat build up. There is no glass shelves between each component there is about 1/2" to 1" of space between each component. That rack is a open unit there is only a channel in the back for the wires to run through so there is plenty of air flow.

As for my 2 channel rig, I have two amps driving my hybrid ESL's.

Here's a quote from the manufacturer's white paper (pertaining to the amplifier(s) I own):

"Sanders Sound Systems’ ESL amplifier can deliver more than 2000 volt-amps per channel into an ESL. That means it will act like a conventional amp rated at more than 1000 watts per channel.

When driving magnetic speakers, the ESL amplifier will deliver over 300 watts/channel into an 8 ohm load, and over 600 watts/channel into a 4 ohm load. Momentary output into a 2 ohm load exceeds 1000 watts."

As for my HT I feel that my HK AVR 340 drives my R15's to insane levels when needed. It's clean and clear sound. More power may be beneficial but I don't feel the need. 120dbs playing concert DVD's is plenty loud enough for me. I think this is due to the fact that the sub in my HT is producing a lot of dbs all by itself. The R15's blend very well & I don't think they present a very demanding load to my meager HT rig.

I've heard a 20 wpc tube amp (Manley Stingray) and 40 wpc tube amp (Jazz integrated) that sound incredible!!!

However, I love my Tri Vista 300 at 350 wpc => 8 ohms. Never any strain or studdering from this baby and I listen to my music very loud.

Yep, I agree 100%. But the whole point in putting together this system was to build a system as "separate" as possible and as "excessive" as possible within my pay scale. Everything in the rack is functional and is used.

The system is both a 2 channel stereo and a 7.1 home theater system that can be used completely independent from each other. The turntable plays in stereo and the subwoofers can be added to the mix if so desired or it can be spread out to all the speakers with the touch of a few buttons.

The source, whether it is cassette, vinyl, cd, dvd or movies, can be heard through any speaker pair desired, or all at the same time.

The default setup lets the turntable play through the SRS while HT plays through the 2.3tl's as default.
