After about 6 years of constantly buying audio gear, I have lost all desire to upgrade. Is this temporary? Is there an antidote? What should I do? Someone please help.

Send me the money you are saving and I'll upgrade courtesy of you.
Thanks. -
It could be burnout. It could be that you really like what you are hearing and are aurally satisfied.
Every addiction has a "saturation" and "plateau" state where further stimulation produces no higher satisfaction. Maybe you're there.Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
I think you are just burned out from the holidays.

Shut the hell up. Lost the urge. I thought this was going to be some post about giving up on life or something. I don't buy your claim of "audio impotency" one bit. Just wait . . . you'll be bobbing your head to some tunes weeks from now and begin to ask yourself, "does that sound right? What if I do this or change that?" Then you'll see something new that you don't have but looks interesting. It's all cyclical. You are simply having a dry spell. -
It's normal, enjoy it.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Stop. Take a break. Refocus. Research and get your ear on other gear. Take your time. Focus on what really needs to be addressed in your rig. Then, when the urge comes again, make an educated purchase.
Until then, enjoy the tunes. After all, that's what it's all about.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -

When I get out of the mood I just do something else for several months. Before you know it I'm back into it a different way. In the end its all about the music. Maybe you are overexposed or just tired of what you are listening to.

Sell something, wait awhile and then buy something completely different no matter how long it takes. Their's alot more things in life to enjot than 2ch/HT gear. Enjoy!!

I'm nowhere near the same level of 'audio nirvana' as you are, but I've realized that I'm at much the same state psychologically. Whenever I finally get my turntable hooked back up, I'll actually be really happy with my rig.
So now I've decided to just forget about cruising the FM and drooling over stuff I can't afford and instead refocus on the MUSIC. The artists, the bands, the time periods, the genres, the sounds, the styles, the instruments, the greats, the major influences. There's SO much to learn about that. And it's all so exciting.
And now that I've said I'm 100% happy with my system, I have to back peddle a little and say I do need more power and a FM antenna. However, I am happy with everything else! Well, that is if I had a switcher so I didn't have to keep switching RCA cables on the back of the ELP. That is kind of frustrating.George Grand wrote: »
