I just called them at this number... (877)-626-5623 from their website and got thier answering machine that they are open for phone calls from 10am - 6pm Eastern time. I would call again tomorrow if I were you.

Sounds like the number was fat-fingered.... (no offense intended)

He messed around reading stuff off the net:confused: ....after reading over an hour he came to the kitchen and said we needed a horn sub.....after I told him to look at the size he decided we might not have room:)...
I'll have to call tomorrow I guess. But we need to be able to get into the bookcase and the NSD/2 @ 150lbs is to much to move....After reading him Ron's comment, he's really wanting the Ultra now:) Guess I'll know what they suggest tomorrow. :D

If he wants a Danley then be prepared for some remodeling  I've had too much exposure to folks that think bass is a way of life. It's great, even essential for HT, but you guys don't know what even the small, capable subs we've recommended can do. I like the guys at SVS a lot. I own their products. There are others out there getting as good and probably Hsu is pretty equal. There are others that are starting up that will give them a run for their money. But for you guys...you'll be flat blown away...so close your eyes, throw a dart and pick one. You'll be very happy...your neighbors will start looking at you strangely though.

Okay I think I'll order the csi5 and listen to it the next few weeks and decide if it's going to be okay sticking out...I know someone suggested spending 2 grand but I need to be realistic...

    excellent.

only two grand for a sub.....we are slowing down:D;)

hope the grandbabes are doing well, mine are my reward for not killing my teenager's:eek: . my grandbabes listen to music and watch movies with me all the time, the best is when they dance to the music, they are just little audiophiles in the making, I am all for the art of listening to music, relaxing, doing nothing, except active listening to those tones that tickle the ear.

Some of us even have a special smoking jackets to wear and pipes to use for our "critical" listening sessions, we make small grunting sounds of approval for certain passages along with raised eyebrows, its all very proper, reel-ly.

Well I called SVS and Erik had me go into my Onkyo menu and change my volume setting so I could tell him what our normal listening level was. I think we had it on absolute...So after listening to a few snippets I called him back and sent him a pic of the room.. he suggested the Ultra just like Ron predicted...actually he said to start out with one and go from there!! OMG:eek: Going from our little ole Yamaha sub, surely one will suffice our fix:) Also he suggested setting the sub on the back wall towards the kitchen so the sound wouldn't get lost towards the kitchen. I hope it will sound ok there cause it will be out of the way and not block the lower corner cabinet.
So probably about this time next week we should have a rocking sound system:D Many thanks to everyone for helping me spend my husbands money wisely:) I think we got the most for our money for sure:D ...guess we'll need to buy a great sounding cd to test our new sound out on. Erik from SVS said they had a link on their web site with a list. I need to check it out.
Anyway, many thanks from this little okie!! I'll get back here after we get it all set up..gosh I'm ready for a party....but everyone will have to know sign language cause we won't be able to hear what we're saying!

I needled Erik today about trying to sell you 2 ;) . He told me it was either the Ultra or 2 20-39+s for your room. I think you made the right decision. I also think you broke the record for a new member getting replies on their first thread :D . We all want to help a lady in distress.

post pics when your items arrived and post again after you get setup. Congrats on the SVS, and speaker package. A few scenes, movies to watch with tons of bass, 300, War of the Worlds, a scene from Finding Nemo when Darla taps the aquarium glass. Matrix, review some of those and you'll see just what your SVS can do. Congrats again.

Yes r2 d2 I am strange...I'm a 'why be normal' type person for sure..OMG a 40 gallon fuzzy water heater...and it's going to be sitting in the spot I usually put my x-mas tree:eek: .....hmmm...I'm thinking the garland might stick okay but my ornaments will vibrate off...hey I wonder if Velcro will stick to that fuzzy stuff?...I sure hope I don't dream of a 1400.00 water heaters tonight..kinda sounds like a nightmare:p
And Ron my husband spent half the night looking for your name in connection/owner of SVS:) He wanted me to ask you why you hang out at a Polk forum and not have anything Polk listed in your equipment? He thinks you're a pusher getting commission working for SVS:) Hey I'm not complaining about what we're buying...I'm thrilled and think we should name our first sub after you:D
I have a question about connecting Ultra Ronnie:) We have that huge monster cable, will that work okay or does he require special care:)The cable will be close to 60' long if we run it thru the attic.
And the csi5 will probably teeter under the TV until Ultra Ron comes in. By then we'll know if we want to move it to the top. He has to get in the attic to run it thru the wall..
Yes r2 d2, I can laugh now but I kinda had my feelings hurt when everyone said my Yamaha sub was a piece of sxxx:o .. and after the 10th person chimed in agreement I went to eBay and saw where one sold for 20.00:eek: ..nothing better than a reality check to get the ole brain working right..it took all of two seconds to see what a DA I was for being attached to it:)...and just in case y'all were wondering, yes I am so full of sxxx my eyes are brown:D
This brown eyed okie really appreciates your hospitality. I'll send a photo of ronnie and csi in their new home when they're all settled in.

:D There is a Ron at SVS...he's actually the S in SVS, Ron Stimpson. I do like the owners, but no commission. I just get pleasure from the ******ting grin that your husband is going to have fairly shortly. If he doesn't like it...you now have enough posts that you can move it on the CP Flea Market :D . Seriously, I'm not the only one making you guys spend your money...it's terribly amusing to see how you've become just like the rest of us inmates in this asylum so quickly.

Hey...and I resemble that remark about not owning Polk equipment...I'm all Polk, Polk SDA1CS, Polk CS400i, Polk SDA-CRS+ and Polk Monitor 5jr. Just because everything is 20 years old is because like fine wine (and me), it needs to age. I sold off all the new stuff last year ;^)

Our csi5 arrived today and my hubby hooked it up first thing when he got home. He put it above and aimed it down, it sounds like it's coming from the TV to me. It sounds great! We need to run the audyssey again to balance out the sound but were going to wait until the ultra comes in.I just can't wait until the ultra comes in...I probably won't leave the house until it arrives:)

the CSi5 is a very good center speaker. I went from an old yamaha center to the CSi5 and was completely blown away by the crisp and enhanced sound of movie sound tracks. Even in multichannel music it still shines. Your sub will be the product to complete your H/T and I think youre going to love the overall end result.

Occasionally, there are some setup issues that leave users underwhelmed. Be patient, a couple of tips will put things right. Mostly we'll tell you to turn things down and get them calibrated. 90% of the time it's just "Wow", then we fine tune it from there.

Well if we hadn't been 'needing' upgrades we wouldn't have spent the money:) Yes I'm not completely addicted yet but I'm sure when the sub comes in we'll want to replace the front speakers:)And if one person says it looks like a hotwater tank, they will be shot...actually I will let them listen to the sub and I'm sure they will agree it's the best sounding hot water heater they've ever heard:)
Okay Ron, can you give us those tips now...we can save being overwhelmed when we start gutting the kitchen in a few weeks:)
I'm sure Erik at svs wouldn't have mentioned setting the sub where he did if length of running speaker wire was an issue, right? It will be 60' long.

Wire run isn't a concern, it's usually the room or a setup config that creates an issue. Until you put the sub in it's place you won't know how it will behave. Bass standing waves are extremely long. When the sound hits the opposing wall it bounces back on itself and can cancel out certain frequencies creating a hole in the sound. Changing placement sometimes as little as a few inches can make dramatic differences. Calibration and blending your sub with your mains is very important. I think your AVR has Audessy. This is a great first step, but I suggest you run to Radio Shack and pickup a SPL meter. It's about $40. After you run Audessy, do a manual calibration as well, setting speaker distance(delay), size (small) and make sure all the speakers are the same loudness (SPL) at the listening position. It takes about 15 minutes. You might find your auto-EQ is spot on, you might find some funny settings, like it setting your surrounds to large, distances way off, crossover's too high (start at 80hz). SVS has some setup tips in their manual to start you off as well. Also, with the sub in the back of the room, you'll most likely want to set the phase on the sub to 180 degrees.

I happen to be getting a PBUltra13 in Rosenut today. I know what my room does, so setup will be easy, but I'll give you an idea of what to expect :D .

You know you want a subwoofer cable for your new sub right? Not speaker cable. For lengths that long without getting taken to the bank - look at signal cable (slight club polk discount, ask for it) and blue jeans cable (no discount, but cheap and decent cable)

When your sub arrives, I would start with plugging one port and see how it goes.

Have to leave for vacation so others will link to the sights for you.

Have a great week and enjoy your new water heater. :D:D

    http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/subwoofer/index.htm

Around $85-$90 before shipping for 70'. Signal cable was more expensive. There are probably some folks around here that can direct you on how to make a sub cable that length. If you go uner the house, you'll probably need more than 70'.

Are you sure you need a 60' cable? How long is your room????? even alowing 10' on each end for movement, that is a really long cable.

A subwoofer cable is a long RCA cable with good shielding to reject noise and hum - It just has to connect from your sub to your reciever not loop back and forth...
