The manley rigg on those 1C's and Jesses' Jolida and connects had me in a spell.

    [/QUOTE]

The jolida/manley/1C rig was captivating to say the least.Smooth, detailed, excellent soundstage and yet focused. I kindly refer to it as the "velvet room". After hearing that rig,it certainly set the bar up a few notches,as my 1c's have Never sounded that Good. One thing that I learned was,,,source, source, and source.I wanna go back for more :)

I think the oddest thing about the BB king recording was how they mixed it - totally odd...

A lot of older recordings are like that, try listening to a few of the early Rolling Stones cd's. Same effect. Some other recordings I can't think of.

This is the first time I've been abe to post since the fest (the wife is redoing out computer room, and i am sanz internet for a while)

The Fest kicked arse. Ted does hit it on the head when he says the Polkfest Curse was in full effect Friday. Luckily a nice little team effort was put together to get all three rigs up and running.

Although the guys in the living room 2 channel rig at least worked in airconditioning, the poor guys (including me) working on the theater gear werent so lucky. I'm sure the nice pic of me with sweaty man **** (THERE PECS!!!!) behind the theater rack will surface, there's also one of me almost crying. :D

The Gremlins lost the fight, as all the rigs were up and running for most of the fest, and sounding damn good. Wasnt a rig that wasnt fun to listen to.
I dug the Taylos, and spent a ton of time in the woodshed. The theater room looked and sounded wonderful.

That Manley rig was something though, I was really impressed with how well the Manley and the SDA-1C's worked together.

    Upstairs 2 Channel Rig -

Ted, along with his family, were awesome hosts for the fest. His little brother can make some mixed drinks boy!

    some random thoughts:

I will neither confirm, nor deny, that I checked to make sure Abernathy was breathing at least once during his "nap".

    Trey + facial hair = silliness :D

Hearingimpared spent pretty much 97% of the fest in the woodshed. Since it was where the best airconditioning and only vinyl rig was, not much of a surprise.

Bruce, cool guy......... NOT a pretty sight was first waking up, but cool guy man :p

Mike took all my Canada jokes well (How's the igloo brotha!!)

No one was going for my idea of using the record flattener to make pannini's.

Ted's little brothers are NOT big fans of waking up to 2 guys giggling and taking pictures.

South Georgia................could it BE any more humid???????? Kudo's to Ted for the kick &ss air conditioning!

Thanks to Hertz for providing me with a Camry Solara convertible who's interior smelled of cheese both provolone and nacho

Trey handled a non fuctioning Taylo with grace and poise, he didnt even vomit :D Thank god Dave can solder.

To Ted's brother Tim......the door stop in the woodshed is not a doorknob. also, banging on the wall will not make the non exsistent "door" open faster. easily the funniest part of polkfest for me! Your hardcore man....hardcore :D

I'm sure I'll come up with more later

The garage rig was great, especially during the late night "sing alongs":D

I don't remember the Model 7's ever playing:( I'm not too sad though as the Model 10's rocked like a ****.

How did Troy's signed 7a's get there? Did Dave bring them down?

    Just curious.

It would not be a fest without the Club's Official Polkfest Monitor 7's........the 10's are now signed as well, there will be shot of them together when the Showcase is done, a sort of Old Polk/New Polk thing with Al and Paul on BDT's and Mark and Monica on my 10's.......cool......a sort of passing of the torch

Ted again thanks for a great weekend. After getting back into the grrove of work work again all I can think about was the great time i had and look foward to doing it again. I am happy that we were able to raise so much money for George Grands charity as that made it so much better.

Guys thanks for all the really great comments about the Fest and my family, you know the others before me, Russman, Troy, and Mark had set a very high bar for the Polkfests, its great to know everyone really did enjoy the Fest and that it was a hit, I certainly enjoyed having everyone and my boys are still talking about it.

This was also a big year for the gatherings, as you know Victor put on the Chicagoland Bash, HearingImapared had several mini-meets the West Coast Bunch did their thing, so there you go, we are

    More random thoughts.

RT1 and Mrs. RT1 have a beautiful home and know how to throw a party. The rest of the RT1 clan know how to party!

Driving with Joe in the car can be hazardous. It's hard to see when you're laughing that hard. "Get the **** outta here."

Michael gets the Polkie hardcore award as he traveled, in total, over 3500 miles to hang out with a bunch of crazy people in hot, steamy Georgia. He's welcome in my home any time.

    Booker is a cool dog.

There's a Waffle House at just about every exit on I-95.

Sal eats more for breakfast than most people eat all day.

    Russ likes his naps.

There's a lot of places driving up and down I-95 that smell like ****.

The Polk speakers in RT1's HT room impressed me. The room impressed me too, great job guys!

Sid needs to shave. His Taylo's are beautiful looking speakers and I'm glad the tweeter issue was an easy fix.

I'm glad to have finally met Terry, Tom, Carl and George/Janice D. I look forward to the next time.

Parker's BBQ and sweet tea (Wilson, NC) can't be beat.

Steve (Polk65) deserves major kudos for supplying the drivers that helped make those once nasty 1C's have a second chance at life. Thank you.

It was great to see Al (although too short) and meet Mark and Monica. She really dug the AA Top Fuel Hotrod :)

There needs to be a showing from the younger Club Polk members at events like this. No really, you younger members need to get involved.

Well I made it home yesterday but spent 18 hours in bed. I forgot just how much pain and numbness your body can feel after five straight nights with little or no sleep. It's good to hear that all of you got home safely.

Shack, thanks for your photos of Jekyll Island. I got over there just before sunset. There was a right turn off the road to the historic district on Clam Creek road which I took out to the pier. Great directions Ted.

Due to an unforseen circumstance I didn't get to bed until 6AM on Sunday, rolled into Ted's casa around 1PM, and missed both the belly bucking contest and farewells. Did Sal take the title or is he in training for next year? If you have not yet submitted your photos of Polkfest or took some more after Saturday afternoon when we collected memory cards, please email them in full resolution as jpg, avi, zip, gzip, rar, tar or whatever to polkfest2007@lycos.com

Well, I finally made it home. A nice comfortable 30 degrees to boot, ahhhh fresh air.

This trip will definitely go down in history as one of the best trips. I had a blast.

Ted and all your family – Excellent job. We can only imagine the work that went into everything.
You folks are gracious hosts and I thank you from the bottom on my heart for the great time and the warm welcome. The food was awesome.

The work on the HT room blew me away. I do not know if I have been in a better one. The Manley room was by far my favorite from a sound perspective. I actually think that all the gear had a special flavour as it was nice to hear different music in different environments. It was nice to hear a good vinyl rig as well as cement my decision to look at SACD. There goes the bank account.

I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard as when I was in the car with Jesse and Joe. Thanks for the great company guys.

Thanks to all the people I met. You guys really made a Canadian feel welcome and it touched me. It was so great to put a name to a face after all these years. You guys are a class act.

And last but definitely not least thanks Jesse for putting me up at your place before and after the trip to Ted’s place. You are a great host my friend.

Total miles traveled (Yellowknife to Brunswick return) – 7362
Total Air time (Yellowknife to Baltimore return) - 16 hours 7 minutes
Total Travel time (Yellowknife to Baltimore return) 26 hours 2 minutes
Cost of hanging out with some great Polk Folks - PRICELESS

Until we meet again my friends.

Looked like a great time sorry I missed it. I hope to make it to Polk Fest 08. I wish I could have heard the Jolida/Manley/1C rig. That is right up my alley.

I think I have a few new CD's to pick up after hearing the rave reviews of B B King and Shawn Mullins.

    RT1,

I spend SEVEN months at FLETC, and I had no idea that one of the pillars of this community resided in Brunswick, of all places??! Been gone from there for a year and a half or so, so I missed PF by a long shot, but still....

I enjoyed the area, spent alot of time at St. Simons, as you can probably imagine. I may be going back soon for a short time (probably in February), but look forward to a 2-3 year detail out there sometime in the next ten years. Good people out that direction!

Glad you guys had fun, I am certainly not "polkerifick" enough to ever invite myself to such a shindig, and I am a bit envious!

Finally after a week of unseen events,I finally got these in the "upright" position. These are the ones "peeking" from behind their big brothers from the woodshed @ Ted's casa. They were transported safely from Brunswick to Atlanta in a Honda Pilot.Had to wait 2 hours for some help to unload them, another week to get them set up. I've posted a few pic's,,the 1C's are behind them, and I think that my room size issues have been resolved. No this is not the final setup,as I have to move other gear out,,but I just could not stand it any longer,,, the sound,,,well to sum it up it one word,,positively "scary",,,Many thanks to all, Ted and Tour for disassembling, moving and helping me get them loaded.
