Some would argue the record companies but what difference would that make?

I don't mind burning a copy to see if I like something. If I like it, I'll usually buy it. If not, then I'll spend the money to buy someone else's music. In the end, the record labels get the same amount of money from me.

Did not mean to start a debate on the subject :o

I prefer to have the original CD's, if at all possible.

Not saying making copies is a bad thing - If I borrow a friend's back up copy, and I like the stuff, I'll buy the CD(s) from the artist. Those sound snippets at amazon or yourmusic don't convey jack IMO.

I still want a detailed explanation of how H9 & a_mattison made such great compilation discs. ;):)

No debate from this end, just my view on the subject. . . I'm not judging anyone either.

H9's method is slightly different than mine. I maintain a lossless file library in I-tunes. Then you can burn any playlist that you would like. The apple lossless files even maintain HDCD content. I can't tell the difference between the original and a CD burnt from lossless.

Mine also maintain the HDCD. I'll give a lesson, it's really pretty easy. Kind of time consuming picking, choosing & ripping. The actual burning takes very little time. The key is using Exact Audio Copy (EAC) for ripping. It's really all in the ripping of tracks. More later....................

I'm working on it - if anyone else (Aaron, Brock, Michael, Doug, Kevin????) has photos they'd like to submit for the showcase please upload to a photobucket acct. and send me the link ASAP. For now I'm going ahead with what I've got from what Jessica, Rich, and Ricardo shot.

I just re-cabled and replaced my...Uh....Radio Shack IC's to my ADCOM with the Signal Cable IC's from Polkfest.

John K can bite my ****. The sound stage opened up and imaging has improved. (which has been bothering me since the Polkfest after listening to the LSI's and the SDA's)

    Thanks again Frank!!!!!!!!

I just did the same thing Aaron and I'm not sure I like the results yet. A lot more energy up top, I'm sure they'll break-in nicely in 20-40 hours. It's quite a difference, and you are correct the soundstage has opened up as well as the bass is a bit firmer, and John K can bite my **** too (when he's done with yours :D ) and again thanks to Frank.

Wow, our ears must be trained the same. I was just thinking the same thing (tighter bass and a lil' more up top) before I read this point. I happy with the top end. I was thinking that something was missing in my system. Vocals sound a bit more natural.

...Oh...I'm not trying to be a smart ****...but... Do the cables really burn in, or were you being smart?

I'm going to have to recalibrate my HT now. The new IC's are only going from my HK to the ADCOM for LH and RH. I don't have a sound meter, but I've got the HK about 3db lower than I did before for comfortable listening now. Does that make sense? My HT's going to be all hosed up.
