Record gross profits because their supply cost went up 400%. Their profit margin is no different than in previous years.

The US is fretting that Iran might be able to have "the bomb" someday. The Israelies have it. An will use it to win. The are crazier than all the Taliban, Sunni's and Shiites combined. The difference is israel has highly trained forces, lots of weapons and a zealous resolve. Everybody in the Middle East hates them already, they have nothing to loose. Watch out Syria and Iran, the US might not have the balls to mix it up with them. The Israelies have had the war plan for years.

Don't forget, they wiped out the Eqyptian Army (one of the largest and best equiped in the '70's, in just 7 days.

The stakes just got a lot bigger in this poker game. :o

Israel just gave Syria 72 hours...
Israel gave Syria 72 hours to stop Hizbullah’s activity, bring about release of kidnapped IDF troops. ‘Israel will not end military activity until new situation created that will prevent Syria, Iran from using terror organizations to threaten its security,’ newspaper quotes Pentagon official as saying

Actually, the difference is that Israel, like us, are the good guys. I have no problem with them having the bomb because I know they would only use it in defense and not for terrorist purposes.

I don't think this is true. The Jews are God's people after all; they way they have deicimated everyone who has attacked them, even when they shouldn't have won at times, is proof enough for me.

Haha...Never noticed that one. Syria is a big problem.

As far as Lebanon, their leader is not a Hezbollah supporter, exactly. He merely has Hezbollah voted into his government as part of the Lebaonese Parlament. Hezbollah is essentially an extention of the Iranian army, which is what is the most scary thing for us. While I don't think the leader of Lebanon is a big fan of the Jews, he's also nowhere near the level of the leaders of Iran (see Hezbollah) and Syria. He's not directly to blame for what's going on, but he's not doing much to stop it (and there is a shaky reason). He shouldn't be such a weenie and do what he can to get Hezbollah out of Lebanon. The truth is that he let the cancer spread in southern Lebanon without doing anything to get rid of it.

I hear his fear of sending Lebanese troops in to stop Hezbollah is the fear of plunging his country into another brutal civil war. Hezbollah has essentially contolled the southern area of Lebanon since 1990.

The big fear for us is that Syria or Iran gets involved when Israel hits Lebanon even harder. Israel is saying they won't let up on Lebanon until they get the 2 soldiers back (are they even alive?) and Hezbollah stops attacking. I think it's really 50/50 right now. If Syria or Iran attacks we will be involved. The question then becomes who do Russia and China support?

I personally don't think that the mic slip with the President over the weekend was an accident. He's said exactly what needs to happen in order to avoid a full on world war, and I think that was the intention.

In any event, this is getting scarier by the day. Especially since Hezbollah is firing Iranian rockets/missles into Israel, and they can hit Tel Aviv. Hezbollah, the chicken **** that they are hide their rocket caches amongs civilians -- which makes it very hard for Israel to attack their munitions without looking bad. Who is wrong? The person who hides their weaponry among civilians or the person who takes them out? It's obvious to me what the answer is.

:o There's been bloody civil and political wars going on for years in Africa and South America for years we're not involved in. I'd rather deal with Iran and Syria before the hornets nest becomes a full on colony anyways. Not like that wasn't the plan all along.

Depending on your theology, but for the past 8,000 years of documented history, we (the humans) have been at war continually, and still haven't managed to destroy ourselves. I don't know why you are so obnoxious about it being the end of the world...

That, and we're fighting people who don't understand reason and can't co-exist peacefully with the rest of the world. They're not interested in treaties, cease fires, or anything less than complete anihilation of their enemy. It's not hard to figure out we're going to all have to deal with it sooner than later. Israel is proof positive they're is no such thing as negotiating with these people. They've given them everything they've asked for and they still hate them.

The United States is a perfect example that people of all different backgrounds can live together in relative peace if they want to. The people Israel are fighting don't want it.

ummm, the point of my last post wasn't about the fear of the end of the world, but that we have been at war with eachother for 8000 years...and it will never stop...

Thats because there have always and will always be evill ****. And when these evil **** get into power, they start wars.

I know the popular "star trek" line of thought is that humans just suck, but I maintain that only a few of us suck and theyre the ones that are starting all the problems.

Well, if I remember my history right, Germany along with Austria declared war on Serbia then Russia and France and then invaded Belgium.

So you got a bunch of evil **** in Germany (surprise face) that decided to invade everybody and try to conquer the world.

I also remember something about an Archduke being assassinated but I cant remember quite how that played into it. But ya gotta guess that an assassin would fit the bill for an evil ****.

The assasination Archduke Franz Ferdinand, a head of state, being assasinated was the firing pin that exploded the bullet starting WWI. The person who whacked him was a member of a group supported by The Black Hand, which was a part of the Serbian government.

There's a whole slew of reasons for why WWI happened, which is why it's just an unfair question on your part. We could have an intense argument about the components of WWI.

WWI was hardly started to quench the thirst for human blood by other humans, which was the point Mac was trying to make.
