Once upon a time 5 years ago, I went back east to visit family and stayed in the Adirondacks for a couple of days. I would wake up in the morning before my kids got up and walk up the road we were staying on. Each morning, I went a little farther along the desolate and peaceful country lane.

On the last morning, I made it to the top of the hill. As I crested the hill, I saw a young(ish) bear run across road about 100 yards away. Naturally, I turned on a dime and walked quickly back down the hill.

About a quarter a mile later, I saw this in the distance.

Apparently, this critter was caught up in his own thoughts that morning, because as I closed the gap he just kept waddling along on the road. Eventually I caught up to him and he finally figured out that I was there. Right after I took this picture, he decided to abandon the road to the tall stranger.

OK. new game. Post a picture of yourself. Here's mine, but I'm copping out a bit as this is not the old and wrinkly me now, but me on a ferry between two Greek islands in 1972.

From 10 years ago, I'm on the right with Gip Gipson of Gip's Place, the last juke joint in Alabama. GF and I enjoyed the juke joint hospitality many times (including 2 or 3 NYE) before he passed a few years ago at 99. Very nice guy. Loved his Delta Blues with a glass of White Lightnin. LOL
Only time I saw him outside the juke joint (at over 95!) he was loading log sections into a wheel barrow. Some of the sections probably weighed over 50 pounds!

He’s a butter bar, and making captain is a given in the Space Force, which uses the air force’s rank structure. If they used the Navy’s, it would be far more difficult.
