I am full of 'em.

speaking of irony... why is it that irony is the noun related to the adjective ironic, but, as far as I know, there's no equivalent noun for the adjective sardonic?
Sardony would work for me, but it kinda sounds like something that would be illegal in 31 of the United States (mostly in the south and midwest) -- even between consenting adults.

Now that you brought it up, that is how I retired last October. I am always pro-retirement.
My very last day of RFT work ended with an emergency strategy meeting of a "task force" I'd been part of, about... something important ... that started at 3pm on a rainy (!) January Friday and ended somewhere after 6pm. I lugged my last couple of boxes of residual cr@p from my office out to the car in an empty, dark parking lot in the cold, wet gloom and headed up to NH. Not really quite the way I expected my last day to go.
The next morning was much more pleasant.
Meanwhile, the clouds to the south a bit after sunset tonight.

They called me the day after I retired for an emergency meeting to troubleshoot
a major issue at 6pm. They let a vendor convince them the problem wasn't theirs.
It was. Since they have had issues getting good help. That was last year. They called
a couple weeks ago to ask if I'd come back part time. NO!!!!!
I will still answer questions if the right person calls. If I have my phone
with me. Which is never. That's liberating. From on call 24/7 to leaving my
cell in the charger 99% of the time.

Just wow...
I still get calls from a couple of guys there. Mostly electrical issues. Before I left two of the guys were diagnosing an intermittent start issue. It was towed in daily five days straight. I told my manager I won't fix it, they have to learn.
They replaced both batteries, starter, cables, ignition switch, solenoids. So I downloaded the schematics for them. They looked them over and decided to bypass a problem circuit.
It solved the start problem but created another. You could start the truck in drive and reverse. They bypassed the faulty neutral safe switch.
Then there was the ABS issue. "It has to be a wire harness. I replaced the ABS sensor and it still won't read LF wheel." It had a bad wheel bearing. They had it raised on a lift to change the sensor but never checked for loose bearing.
I could go on for hours.
