MEXICO CITY (AP) — The mayor of the Mexican city of Cuernavaca was proudly inaugurating a footbridge over a scenic stream Tuesday when the span collapsed, sending him and about two dozen other people plunging into a gully.
The hanging bridge made of wooden boards and metal chains had recently been remodeled. Video of the collapse suggested the boards separated from the chains supporting them.
Local officials, including city council members, fell about 10 feet (3 meters) onto rocks and boulders in the streambed.

Look at the size of the chain, that chain was severely under sized for that amount of weight on that structure.

There's 2 women and maybe more with broken shins or ankles. Feet aren't supposed to dangle like that.
Looks like the chain spans held up but whatever the boards were secured with had to be a joke.
The article mention this...It looks like one or some jumped to make fun of the oscillation and all it took was one jump. I just looked again...there's a guy in the middle of the span wearing a black polo shirt jumping up and down with his arms spanning the top chain. He holds on just fine as the boards drop down.Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

It was PERFECT and fitting for her to see it and hear them too.
