I guess the gravel makes it environmentally friendly, no? I wonder how many gas station owners used this solution.

In 1963 a lot of things were considered fine, but later turned out to be bad. Cigarettes anyone?

Actually if you pour it in a trench around your house you'll never have termites. This only works on subterranean termites.

I clicked "like" on @OleBoot's post above... because Vanilla doesn't have an ugh! option. ;)

The scary part is that it's from 1963 -- you would've thought that by then, such antics would already have been falling out of fashion.

Of course, a decade earlier, they might've added: "to clear away the oil even faster, put your French drain close to a stream, river, or to your well site, and that nasty, smelly, dirty oil's gone in a jiffy!"

Dilution is the solution to pollution. :#

    Speaking of water.

I used to have good city water for 30 years.

A year or two ago, I started smelling strong chemicals in the water. I started using reverse osmosis water from machines at grocery stores..

Last night on the local news...

It's been determined by a recent study; the water quality for the Wilmington Area is way below what standard levels of quality should be.

NO S*#T. I knew that years ago. >:)

Why is it just now making the news?

A chunk of Mars, some of the space rock that splattered a quiet English town and a dog kennel pierced by an object that came out of the sky.

All three items go under the hammer on Wednesday when London auction house Christie's holds its annual sale of rare and unusual meteorites.

And of particular interest in this sale will be the Costa Rican dog kennel belonging to Roky the German Shepherd. The tin roof of his wooden house was holed by a meteorite in 2019.

Remarkably, the estimated value of £150,000-£220,000 ($200,000-$300,000) is more than for the actual space rock that did the damage.

Objects hit by meteorites have a history of fetching big sums at auction.

A mailbox* torn off its post in Claxton, Georgia, US, was sold at auction in 2007 for £61,000 ($83,000). And an old Chevrolet Malibu car struck by a meteorite in Peekskill, New York, in 1992 changed hands for £170,000 ($230,000) nearly 20 years later.
    ___________________________________________________________________

    My note:
*(If the meteorite was examined closely that hit the mailbox, I believe It would turn out to be a "fruitcake" since Claxton GA is nicknamed the "Fruit Cake Capital of the World" due to the number of fruitcakes that is produced each year. Personally, I purchased two of them in 2021.) :D
