Gary Dodd Custom Built Variable Gain Preamp

    Details:
3 inputs and 2 sets of outputs
    Remote control volume
Variable gain control on front panel
    Combination of Sonicap 1st Gen
Bypassed with a Sonicap Platinum Teflon Cap
    Mundorf Silver/Oil output Caps
Tubes are included: 4 Russian 6C33 Tubes

    Extra Information:
This amazing custom built Variable Gain preamp actually allows you to choose the amount of of gain you wish to have! It can be set to 0 db (off) all the way to 18 db of gain! Wow! This exquisitely engineered and masterfully crafted design allows you to run on 12 volt batteries and will use 25 amps continuously! That is a considerably large amount of battery power for any reasonable of length play time. Carefully planned, Gary Dodd designed this to have a quiet and stable - matching power supply. This easily enables you to directly plug into an AC outlet and enjoy listening... and listening..... and listening..... and listening. About your new power supply, this is small in size, has 2 small fans to keep it running. It comes with a long umbilical power cord so the supply can be remotely located for quieter operation. The main unit also has a fan running slow, just enough to keep things cool. After hours of listening at it's best, be careful, these tubes will run HOT! All of the beautiful wood on this magnificent piece is Cocobolo and it is polished to a mirror finish giving this a stunning shine.

I was just reading about it the other day. It looks very cool. It come with a custom made battery power unit too.

Price? Not cheap. About twice what his battery preamp were sold for.

Guess it sounds really good though. Got to hear one.

With the grandkids in the house for a little while, I'm thinking of introducing them to "Intro to Experiments in Physics" using the cat. Unfortunately, the only bowling we pins we have in the garage are real ones, but .... sometimes sacrifices have to be made in the name of science.

Hello, gudnoyez. Something with the Polk Forum or vBulletin is still amiss and that's why you can not see what we have been used too. No images, bolds, colors, sizes, picture inserts, ect.. I just happen to know the code to make it happen anyway. Polk IT has been made aware of this issue and it will hopefully be resolved in a timely manner.
