That’s the only way one can live. I had a stroke last August, and while minor on the stroke scale, it still f u c kk e d me up. Oh well, that’s life. :)

Thanks Bud. I take it one day at a time.

They get you on Allipurinol? I take 300mg a day and have very very little issues. I can still drink a class of Vodka after eating a ribeye and shrimp and still be ok. Maybe once a month I feel it flare up just a little. Nothing like a full blown flare up.

I also found that soaking my foot in water with apple cider vinegar 50/50 mix really helped.

I also drink apple cider vinegar every day. Just a swig or two off the bottle. This is the best one I have found.

Bragg apple cider vinegar is harsh tasting to me. I take 1-2 tablespoons of Trader Joe's ACV most days. It also has "mother."

    This really sucks!

I feel your pain as I was diagnosed with gout two weeks ago. It has been a living hell. I passed a kidney stone about 12 years ago, the worst 4 hours of my life. This new challenge is a close second. Flare ups are debilitating.

Mine is on my right foot, try driving with that. I've dreaded having to apply the brakes because of the pain.

I really, truly thought, at a quick glance, that this photo showed an appendage immersed in a bucket filled with maggots of unusual size.

    brrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhh!

Just out of academic curiosity: Why are you guys self-medicating with apple cider vinegar?

ACV has many health benefits, but you shouldn't be taking swigs from the bottle. Mix it in water or tea, add some ginger and turmeric, some honey. Not good for your throat or stomach lining to be gulping it down straight.

Since starting ACV I no longer have major heart burn or esophageal spasms. It also helps keep the uric acid down that causes gout flare ups. I've read many articles that state that the human body functions better when more acidic than base.

Helps the good gut bacteria which in turn fosters many other good benefits. Especially helpful for those who may have had a gallbladder removed and can't get enough acid into the digestive process. Granted, that can be done in many different ways

Read up Doc, plenty of info out there from numerous sources.

    How's Xena?

Unfortunately she did not make it. Her lungs were compressed up against her spine and they could not find a cause after draining another 75 oz of fluid from her chest cavity. She went peacefully in a place she loved with her humans.

She will be missed. Thanks for all the concern and kind thoughts.

Funny you say that! That is what she was watching in that photo. Squirrels. They were also around when she passed.

A real tear jerker for sure.

    as seen on the internet*

Now, if I were gonna have an airline, I would give it a wry name -- as the owners (or operators) of this Vickers Viscount apparently did. B)

Note also the name of the aircraft itself (painted on its schnozz).

And yet all the rage right now is "alkaline water" I snicker a little when folks at work expunging the benefits of this new fad alkaline water lol.

Not to be confused with mineral water .... I drink alkaline water everyday as mine comes out of the tap at a ph of 8.8 ... Pretty alkaline if you ask me.

I cannot drink ACV straight from the bottle I've tried. It for me was far more irritating than the old 200proof Everclear. I cannot see that acidity being good for the esophagus, well since stomach acid erodes it so badly.

It wouldn't be expected to be good for the esophagus, although we eat and drink plenty of acidic stuff all of the time.

Good, balanced diet of healthy foodstuffs trumps the fads every time IMO (although I am not a nutritional biochemist, just the regular old kind).

Forget the PH balanced water, you'd benefit more from water without the fluoride in it. I like Fiji water for that, I'm sure there is more I just haven't looked that hard.

I'm weird like that. I like the taste. I always chase it with water to keep the teeth and throat rinsed.
