Well, I might hook them back up at some point. I boxed them all up and I've asked for a return shipping label several times and have yet to be provided one.

Something like that or even better - something like the PS Audio Stellar Stack..

Yeah. The PSA Stellar stack is primarily what I used to review the KLH speakers.

Well, I meant I'd like to hear 'em on a big, beefy, old-school, old-style Class AB amplifier.

Quick story. Years ago, a colleague of mine at work was selling some monstrous, John Curl-designed Parasound two-channel power amp. I don't remember the model, or anything about it, other than that it was very powerful and very different than anything I had much experience with. He was happy to lend it to me when I expressed interest in it. I took it home, looked around the room :) and decided that the right speakers to test it with were a pair of dump-find Teledyne-era AR-14 two-ways that I had refoamed.

I had found them to be nice sounding loudspeakers in that fairly accurate, polite AR way.
As classic acoustic suspension loudspeakers (and not particularly good ones, relative to, say their contemporaries from AR such as the 10-pi), I figured they ought to appreciate a potent amplifier driving them.

The result was stunning. Besides sounding just generally good (two-ways with a 10 inch woofer, mind you), the quality and quantity of bass from them was just remarkable.

So -- that's what I am getting at.

I don't think the Class D amplifiers are necessarily designed/"voiced"/intended for acoustic suspension loudspeaker, because in 2019 they're virtually extinct.

Mark, I would be honored for you to join us on 9/14 to hear class D in all it's glory - of which I am sure would sound "stellar" with the speakers you describe. They are, should I dare say, game changers.

Gonna try em with a pair of AR-10pi?

    ;)

I am sure the sound great and they use less electricity from the wall per watt out than Class AB, no doubt. Just not my cuppa chai.

Thanks for the invitation (in all seriousness)!

I guess I never realized these had a passive radiator. Never owned a pair, nor ever heard them. Looks like they were making poor copies of a Polk Monitor 10?

Passive Radiators were a thing for a while in the late 1970s. EPI and Genesis, e.g., were using them (slightly) before Polk.

Advertising blurbs for earlier versions of the Thrusters referred to them as "vibra cones" :p

Playalinda beach runs right next to KSC...one of nicest beaches in the South and always empty..makes for great surf fishing.....holds a nice wave when surfs up and the last pic is the famous launch pad 39..this turnoff is on the road leading to the beach...as you can see you can get quite close to the launch pad which makes for a fantastic launch viewing. views from the beach are great too......

tidied up a bit upstairs early this summer.
The catalyst was our son bringin' me that pair of Polk Audio RT8TL loudspeakers he picked up early this year down in Virginny.

I also decided to add back the very, very nice Kenwood KT-9900 that my aforementioned son (the mathematics professor, that is B) ) picked up for me at a pawn shop some years back :) The FM doesn't sound quite as good overall as the MR-67, but it sounds very good (especially for a soiled solid state tuner), it's quite sensitive and selective -- and it does have a nice AM section. It's a very good old all-analog tuner.

I'd say it needs a recap and alignment then.
