Ive been listening to all my old CDs and hadnt heard this one in years. Wow! I had forgotten how good it sounds. I dont know how to classify them: Jazz, Bluegrass, Rock, Acoustic??? Bela Fleck fans take note! This is a remastered CD with good sound quality and the soundstage and imaging are excellent. Anyone heard any of the other Dixie Dregs CDs?SDA 2B-TL (Sonicap/Solen/Mills, Erse Super Q, Rings, Spikes, No-Rez)

When My SDA-CRS's were new back in 1986, I would put on Talking Heads - Burning Down the House (Vinyl LP) to let people hear what the SDA's were about. This is when CD's were fairly new and I also used this as an example of why I still preferred LP's at the time.Signature goes here

In college we always referered to them as Jazz Fusion/Progressive. That album was played a lot in our dorm in 1982-83. It's a fantastic album.Signature goes here -
Well I have officially heard what, imo, is the perfect SDA song. I was amazed at the recording quality(actually a remaster).
The song is "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" from "THE BEST OF SIMON AND GARFUNKEL"(1999). I've heard this song, literally, thousands of times and it was like rediscovering a lost treasure. Actually, almost every song on the cd is very, very well done. A must have.
If you have your SDAs set up properly you will be in for a treat. I was/am amazed. On top of it all is, it's also a beautiful song.
Paul Simon is a genius."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

so true.. i listen to S&G quite a bit.. while not all of their songs sound that good on the SDA's. quite a few of them do. check out the rest of theirs.
Not to mention that they were or are incredible song writers. Certainly as good as Lennon and McCartney.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Mike,
Only took me 15 months, but I edited in the album titles like you asked. So post #4 is now up to date.
I also dropped The Who's "Teenage Wasteland" in favor of their "Emminence Front".
Anything else you want me to do a year or so from now?More later,

OK - I admit it - Church Music -
Something like a funeral dirge written for a Pope in the 1600's(or earlier?) Transcripted by Mozart from memory after hearing it because the Catholic Church guarded the music.
It's in latin but unbelieveably cool MUSIC if you can just appreciate it for that - and it makes my SDA's SING The recording is great and haunting and detailed.
Check it out - worth a listen.
On a side note as I make my way through these lists:
Shawn Mullins - Souls Core - Excellent
Rush - Moving Pictures - Excellent
Yes - Close to the Edge - Excellent
Can't wait to give a listen to more!

Funky town rocks. Period. I could hear a strong, 3 layers of depth with the volume cranked up. Super tight. Mark Knoffler or any Dire Straights sounds sweet on any quality system. Knoffler's "Shangri-La" is an HDCD and is smooth and open. Butter. McCartneys "Paul is Live" sounds great. The ultimate so far, however, is Loreena McKennit's double live disk (which I can't find for a name at the moment.) This disk is concert hall and miked perfectly. Her harp in addition to a wide variety of instruments is musical a musical high. All the songs are great, but Mummer's Tale and the song that follows stand out. Lasty, A Tribute to George Harrison DVD with Ravi Shankar's daughter and an Indian orchestra is fantastic. Fleetwood Mac's the Dance wouldn't hurt either...Despite the possible ridicule, Lionel Ritchie's upbeat 80's hits sound super tight and very encompassing. Is it just me, or do quality live recordings sound better than just about any thing else on the SDA-SRS's?UNIVERA

Found the Loreena McKemitt set. It is live in Paris and Toronto. The whole thing is awesome. You will be sitting in Paris. Huge soundstage. If anyone listens, please let me know your thoughts.UNIVERA

Does anyone have a compliation disc of great SDA songs? I would love to listen to one. Would it be illegal to pass one around on a trial basis to interested members? BTW, Steve Miller Born to be Blue sounded great. Thanks, Jeff

I've though about making one. But I never got around to it. Some of my favorite demo tunes include Paul Simon's Graceland, Miles Davis ****'s Brew, Van Morrison's Moondance and many others already on this thread.Carl
