Sonny and Cher w/ opening act Paul Revere and the Raiders (with my parents) at the Wisconsin State Fair grandstand. I'm guessing it was, maybe, 1971 which would have made me 12 yrs. old. The next summer ('72) I saw Three Dog Night (tagged along w/ my older sister and her boyfriend) at the Milwaukee arena. And in Dec. of 1973 I saw Alice Cooper w/ opening act ZZTop (just me and my friends) at the Coliseum in Madison.

My parents must have been freaking seeing me go from Sonny and Cher to Alice Cooper in two years.

Elton John, Thanksgiving Day 1974 at MSG in NY (I was 15) w/special guest John Lennon (they performed "Whatever Gets You Thru The Night", "Lucy In the Sky", & "I Saw Her Standing There"). :D

Tickets were $5.50, $6.50, & $7.50 with t-shirts going for $5.00 and programs $2.50. Never felt an arena rock like that.
Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support

Donny Iris at St. Vincents college in western PA.

I was 16 and my parents forbid me to attend concerts because of the pot smokers that could be there but agreed I could attend the Catholic campus.... little did they know what went on in Catholic high schools;)

    1982 Aerosmith/ Ronnie James Dio

Aerosmith was the headliner and played only 2 songs before Steven Tyler left the stage during "Train kept a rollin" the band all looked at each other in a confused sort of way, finished the song and said thank you, good nite. That was before "Sobersmith".Dio kicked ****.

Derick and the Dominoes when Duane Allman was still alive. I heard Layla for the first time live.
The B act was an unknown at the time by the name of Elton John-he was booed when he came on the stage but stayed for 3 encores.

    Ditto... the "silver album" tour.

Blues Image (think "Ride Captain Ride") opened for them in Cleveland's Public Auditorium. Same at your show?

    A great starter concert...

    Wow, old thread.

First concert I ever went to (at least that I remember) was John Kay and Steppenwolf with Jefferson Starship and Procal Harem at the North Shore Music Theater. Had to be... like... '92?

Not my proudest moment, but whatever :)
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

AD/DC For those about to rock. 1982 maybe? Cow Pallace.

My Pop took me to my first concert and convinced me it was over before the first encore. As soon as the lights went out for the first time we were gone.
I allways wondered why they never played all the songs on that album?.

Dang Tour, you resurrected 2 old threads in the same day!

My first big show was Motley Crue w/Whitesnake at Joe Louis Arena during the Girls, Girls, Girls tour (about 1987). Whitesnake practically stole the show because of the huge popularity of Here I go Again at the time. It was a great show and still one of my favorites to date (after more than 100 concerts over the last 19 years). The show featured a drum solo where Tommy had some hydraulics lift his entire set up and out over the crowd where he proceeded to play while the set was spun upside down. Pretty cool!
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Tickets were general admission and priced at $2.50

Our new and only civic center opened in 1980. Essentially a state of the art concert venue. The first act to open up it's inaugural season was none other than a group of local gents known as Cheap Trick. 1980 was my freshman year in high school and my first bonafide rock concert. We had 6th row and it was great. Cheap Trick was one of the biggest bands going at the time, right after the release of At Budokahn.
