@Geoff4rfc - take a look at the Aeropress before you buy a French Press. A French Press is okay, but Aeropress beats it, IMHO. I was using a mini FP for a while, but it just wasn't as good. It is, however, good for bulk concentrate or cold brew.

Cooperscast coffee, I buy the organic Sumatra, whole beans, dark roast. I buy it in 5lb bags, free shipping, roasted fresh before shipping.

Fine line between quality coffee and price. I've tried about a dozen or so brands outside the grocery store garbage. Prices can get crazy, and for 12 oz bags, not even a pound anymore. My wife likes a stronger coffee, she's use to the Starbucks degreaser. I like a lighter coffee, less acidic, so my gut isn't doing cart wheels. I also don't want the garbage sprayed with who knows what. The organic Sumantra from Coopers cast hits that middle ground for us. If I had a choice, and tons of coin, I'd be drinking single origin Kona or Jamaican blue mountain.

I've always loved Kona. A friend of mine would often go to Hawaii while I'd watch her dog. She'd reward me with bags of Kona....

Being in the Seattle area for so long (way before Starbucks made it's way to my home in San Antonio), I started out drinking 3 shot vanilla lattes. They would always make it too sweet regardless of my "less" vanilla requests....so, I figured, more shots.....didn't take too long until I was up to 6 shot vanilla lattes.

Drank those for a couple of years....of course, that was a few lifetimes ago :D

I did french presses for a little while.

I had a job which had garbage office coffee. This Flavia stuff. Tasted stale to begin with and the always supplied these paper cups that weren't meant for hot drinks. So it added this flavor and aroma of melted wax and cardboard.

    It was stellar.

I used to go to the Dunkin Donuts that was in the concourse level of the building in the morning but when I did the math and realized how much I was spending on coffee, I got a ceramic mug at the dollar store and started using that at work for the office coffee.

    It didn't help it any.

So I had a small coffee maker, made 2 cups at a time, on my desk. My jerk boss lost his marbles on me about said, it wasn't allowed and I had until the end of the day to get rid of it or I'd be escorted from the building and my coffee maker confiscated.

So I ended up switching to a french press. I had a glass one from Bodum that got ganked by someone, an actual fireable offense, and my boss did nothing about it. So I switched to a travel one from Bodum that I took home with me every day.

The coffee was way better than the swill at work but cleaning a french press was a colossal pain in the rear.

This, was, of course, before french presses got trendy and there are far more options out there now than there were in 2008.

I still use the travel one on camping trips sometimes. Especially if I'm at an event and running something so I'm by myself.

If I lose power, it looks like I can still make java.

The French press has never been unpacked, it's a small one. I'd like to try it once or twice.

I have used the Vietnamese dripper vessel, it's strong coffee is served on ice with sweetened condensed milk.

I have a Moccamaster, a Cuisinart, and a French Press at home that I use occasionally on weekends.

95 percent of my coffee comes from a Keurig machine though. I always use sugar and half-and-half so coffee bean flavor itself isn't my main focus. Rapid caffeine delivery is and I stopped drinking soda altogether some time ago. B):#

Coffee is the mother of my day (with apologies to anyone I just plagiarized). Been drinking it since grade school. I didn’t become nerdy until some coworkers were talking up roasting their own beans and touting how much money they were saving….kind of like the home brewers beforehand. “Just pennies a glass!” Great thread.

I used to like Peet's because of their small beans it ground nice and tasted good in my Breville grind and brew. Peet's didn't exit Russia like everyone else so I avoid them now. Switched to Starbucks for their bean size and taste and then they went woke so they got my ban hammer to. Death Wish was a good replacement but a bit pricey.
For the past few months it's been DD for $19.99 for 3lbs. It goes through the grinder nicely and makes a decent cup. I'm hoping corporate DD doesn't do anything stupid as they're good enough for my 2 cup a day habit.

So Starbucks are too woke, but Peet’s aren’t woke enough?! 🤪

How many stores do Peet’s even have in Russia anyway?!

    *P.S. I just realized that Peet’s isn’t Pete’s, and I bought the stuff for years! 😂
