I know they're not glowing (yet). I have brought these back into my fold of goodies. These have a provenance that means a lot to me now. I got these from George Daniel....... tip o' the hat and a clink of the glass to you George. Heard them for the first time at his house one trip, Tom was with me. We turned loose some tunes and had a day.....
Good times -
Good times, indeed, sir. I may give you chit from time to time but I gotta hand it to ya'. Times gone by are priceless, brother..
So many memories......even pissing on Trey's Super Towers in the living room was fun.
If only George was there to really break them in with us...

Just for fun, I opened that image using MS Windows' default photo editor (which long, long ago, was not too bad, but it gets worse with every 'update') and hit the "Enhance" button.

It doesn’t actually look blue like that in person. But it shows up nicely in a three second exposure.

Just wanted to say, I made a visit to the Mr. & Mrs. Lightman hacienda and got an earful of these beauties. What sweet glorious sound that came from them, such luxury.
Thank you for letting me invade your space.....

@lightman1 That’s a gorgeous rack holding up the VTLs, too.

They're fake 😉
Bite me, Ken -
Glad you were the first to bite on those VTLs, RUss. I didn't want em to go (back) to anyone else, that's for sure. Thanks for letting me rent them for a few years and giving me the same I paid you for em.
And the rack is my pleasure. You helped out a bunch with finishing out the basement. Even if that chapter is coming to an end, I appreciate everything you did for me there too.

Here're a pair of Tungar tubes in a low voltage high current DC power supply (for field coil drivers) in a Dave Slagle enabled design.

You need some old McIntosh amplifiers, son -- the tubes in the 1950s and 60s Mac amps ran comparatively cool (yes, even the outputs). I think this was a combination of Mac amps operating in Class B (higher efficiency) rather than AB, coupled (no pun intended) with their unique output autoformer design.

Just added to the rack this afternoon:
Prima Luna EVO 400 preamp.
I’ve been looking to buy one of these for years and years, could just never justify pulling the trigger.
Well, I finally took the plunge! -

Man, the last time I heard one of those was down at Ted's place. That was when I unfortunately met Trey. My life hasn't been the same since. 😁
Wow, that was a long time ago...and a great Polkfest to boot! RIP, Ted. You are still missed.
