Just got my 800 today. Still waiting on the box and other parts. Is heat a concern with these? I bought a plastic electronics enclosure and also got a vent I can cut in. Wasn't sure if these produce alot of heat.

They produce no heat, and trade in your plastic enclosure for an aluminum one..

This enclosure was $20 on amazon, going to use it for version 1. The plan is to make a really nice aluminum and wood one to match the speakers.
There was a company that made an aluminum enclosure for just a few dollars more. It fit the 800va torrid very well and clamped it in place, its still a good idea to bolt it to the box.

AFTER placing my order, Avel sent me the spec sheet and they're now saying the OD is 6.7", whereas other online sources said 6.5" OD. So I'll have to just wait and measure everything out and decide If I need to purchase larger alloy extrusion for it's case.... >:)

    That's only about a 3/16" difference.

Just trying to avoid having to shell out another 200 bucks on billet. You know chop whatcha got. A pug should understand.

Going with Neutriks anyways, so extra thru-bore will still leave @0.200 thickness after the fly-cut for their interface with housing...comprende?

Thanks @westmassguy - the zip tie idea works great. I drilled through the case and skipped the MDF since it was close quarters in there. Except for the torroid, everything came from Partsxpress.

Just curious - what's the reasoning behind lining the case with Dynamat? I thought Dynamat is a mass damping product to stop resonance.

Helps lessen/prevent vibrations from getting in. The layer of foil doesn't hurt either.

Thanks F1 - gotta say the Dreadnought has dramatically improved imaging, soundstage and oddly enough, tweeter performance. Amp is also running much cooler.

Would be interesting to hear an electrical engineer's opinion on why your amp runs cooler.
    Sounds like a win/win situation.

It would be nice to know the mechanics behind the use of a torroid transformer for non-transformer duty. I sort of understand that the Dreadnought is effectively a second ground plane, but really I ain't no EE, so maybe I'm wrong on that. One thing is for sure - Matthew Polk is a near genius EE.
