It’s Sunday, Snowing, Coffee is Hott, and I’m bored so here’s my take on this, mostly for K_M, but anybody who’s bitched about F1Nut. Myself included.
But first, why the hell do all you people care about your badges?
TL;DR:
F1Nut: He comes across as a dick. Take him or leave him. Just my perceptions. Grateful for what he does do. Think he could do the rest a lot better. Or have better success on Facebook.
F1Nut Is simultaneously one of the biggest lurkers and **** posters on this site. Most of what I read from his 42,000+ posts since I’ve been around is one or two sentences telling someone how they’re wrong with little to (usually) no information how they might change it. I generally don’t view him as a positive contributor to the forums, and often find him engaging in adolescent arguments with those he would claim are below his intelligence and experience. Why? I don’t know. Nothing better to do I guess? After 42,000 posts boredom has set in and being the oldest troll under the bridge his last entertainment? I don’t know, but his is a familiar pattern I’ve seen repeated on multiple forums. He’s that established voice who’s been around forever, can be a pain in the ****, and every now and then is extremely helpful. Demo program anyone?
It’s my perception the site has three camps of members; those who like him, those who don’t, and those who don’t know who he his. In different words, a very polarizing online persona who puts a bad taste in newer members mouths from the start. Stating from personal experience and observation.
This is all, of course just my perception based on threads I’ve read or participated in, and yes I’ve butted heads with him before. I certainly haven’t seen everything. Other members seem to hold him in high regard and say he his helpful. Oddly enough I often find those same members quite helpful to individuals and the site as a whole. I can’t always say that about F1Nut, but people I respect on the site seem to respect him. Therefore aside of a ****, grating, ornery, cold impersonal and irritation online persona I tolerate him. Passive ignore his bait posts and focus on what you really need which I suspect is not wasting time on someone who’s not getting you what you need. Unless you need to eat some troll bait, go for it.
I don’t believe you need to like someone to appreciate what they do. Thanks for the L200 demo program and other things you’ve done for the forums. Your online personality blows some large four legged mammalian genitals but I’m sure like most of us you’re quite different in person. Final words of the rant, like your mother said if you can’t say something nice, don’t say it; If you can’t post something positive or helpful, don’t. Remember, telling someone they’re wrong without explaining why does them absolutely no good. May I suggest a simple ‘bump’ instead of a snarky comment? After all, this isn’t Facebook. Up

They need to add more specific items to click on at the bottom of people's posts. Yes, I think your post is Insightful, or I Agree with you, Like what you said, or think what you posted is genuinely funny, aka LOL. They're all too positive, meant to keep the warm and fuzzy feeling of the Forum going. This is prompting people to just post snarky things in a post of their own.
Maybe start with Dislike, or if necessary, take it to Kumbaya-land and simply have Disagree? Or maybe a Confused tag, like WTF are you really thinking here? It's better than leaving others to figure out what you really mean, and posting threads about how disrespectful people are (LOL)...

You are applying your "personal experience and observation" to all newer members, and deciding their opinion for them. It has been years since I was a newer member, but I never thought of F1Nut as leaving a bad taste in my mouth from the start. I believe you would find that to be true from a majority of the people on the forum. The bad taste in peoples' mouths that does exist, is a small minority of people who dislike F1Nut. A vast majority of people on the forum (newer and who have been here for years) find F1Nut to be helpful and a good guy.

Completely disagree. A lot have left the forum or never post based on what a jerk he is. Many who end up staying on the forum, (this is a VERY tiny forum) ARE in fact the few that can tolerate him, or have him on ignore, Or kiss his arse and act silly also.
Sure you are one of the same guys that join in with the same childish crap he does, so of course you like him.
You are not nearly in the same level of jerkdom as he is, but you MUST know the forum has like about a dozen jerks that all jump in and try to gang up on people right??
